Just a heads-up for anyone out there who bought posters on Saturday at PJ20 Alpine Valley and had them shipped by UPS. I was checking my credit card statement on-line today and they charged me $20 which I was expecting but then I noticed an additional $74 charge for the same item. So I call them and they tell me it's because of the size and shape of what was being shipped. It's 2 poster tubes that THEY put in a big box!

So I told them the guy at the UPS booth said it should cost around $20 and that it was poster tubes that didn't even need to be re-packaged in a box so it I can be charged twice for the same package- dirty move. They said I was right and they're going to remove the $74 charge. So that was shady as well as the same UPS booth changing things up from Saturday to Sunday. On Sunday, you had to ship one poster tube at a time, not only that, it went from 3 day land shipping on Saturday which is cheaper to 2 Day air which is almost double the cost - like I said very shady dirty move!

I had one of the best times of my life at the PJ20 weekend but UPS is trying to rip-off PJ fans and that's not right - so check your statements and don't let them get away with it!

Just checked and I'm sure everyone's prices will vary...

$17 for 3 tubes taped together to Chicago (2 day). Only way I could tube my posters since the one in my car wasn't allowed in Sunday (expo entrance) and they had no more to sell.

Regardless of what prices we post, though, definitely check your cards to make sure you didn't get gouged.
  • Thanks for the info. I was gouged for an extra $64.23 by this "service" as well. It would be helpful if we could identify the specific UPS shipper that did this so they can't take advantage of other unsuspecting concert-goers.

I've learned my lesson. I'm calling UPS today to have my extra charges reversed. Here's the UPS billing phone number if anyone needs it: 1-800-811-1648.

I had the same experience....we were quoted $24-$30 for shipping 2 tubes to L.A. They put both tubes in a huge box, and, as a result, they charged an extra $70 because the box was something like 3' x'3' x 3'.

I called UPS, and based on the fact that they unneccesarily repackaged the tubes, they credited me for the extra charges.
  • Thank God I took mine with me and didn't have them shipped. God only knows what they would have charged to ship that huge box to Canada!

I bought a poster off a fellow 10C member many years ago. She paid for it on her end through her work, but when UPS delivered the package to my home my mom answered the door as I was at work or something...and they charged us a $20 COD! My mom didn't know any better and paid it. Those thieves got paid shipping TWICE!

Ohh and here's the kicker the tube was crushed! The spot where it was crushed was about the size of a shoe. It's not the person I bought it from's fault but I told her anyways cause she paid for shipping too...so maybe she could at least get her shipping money back. I know she gave them shit, but I don't think she saw any refund.
    I HATE UPS.
