What is the backstory of "Times of Trouble"?

It sounds a lot like Footsteps. Is it a precursor to Footsteps? Am I just plain crazy?
I'm trying to think of a really good signature.

that's because it's the exact same song, just Ed in PJ instead of Chris in TOTD.

  • My understanding is that Stone sent the song to both Ed and Chris. Ed's version showed up on the mamason tape and when TOTD were recording it made the list as Times of Trouble.

Oh, you're not a jerk. You're just so much smarter than me and very helpful to your fellow fans.

What he said. Basically, Stone wrote it, sent it to Ed, then he must have either given it to Chris too, or Chris just heard it and thought it was cool, and one way or another, they both ended up writing lyrics for it and putting it out there. I prefer the fullband version of Footsteps personally.
words seem so out of place.

I think it's pretty fucking cool to hear this song and see how differently two artists can interpret the music that was written. How rarely, if ever, do we get to peak inside of something like that

  • Indeed, two awesome songs from one brilliant piece of music. It's quite a rarity. Footsteps live circa 1992 was fantastically amazing. These days though, I'd prefer Times of Trouble.
