HAMILTON TRAVEL/VISIT HELP

We are traveling from Indianapolis to Hamilton with plans unmade, other than the 10C PJ tix. I have loved PJ since '92 and this will be my 2nd Canadian show and 8th overall. I live for Pearl Jam and wish it was my thousandth show, but kids and life things tend to make tour trips more random. Anyway, we hope to get some great experiences since we have a few more days in Canada this time. Kitchener '95 was unreal and the Hamilton 2011 pre and post-parties look awesome!! I am dying for Tim Hortons!!! :D
We are looking for any advice on places to stay and/or visit around Hamilton? That would be very much appreciated! I wanted to come to the real experts before dealing with the crappy a-holes on the internet.
Thanks so much for the help,
Chris Walker

  • the sheraton hotel is a 2 minute walk from the arena. as far as before and after, Hess village is a good strip of patio bars and restaraunts close by, if the weather is not so nice, the honest lawyer is next to the hotel.
go tell all of your freinds i'm an idiot and you're great

Sorry, I obviously meant Kitchener '05. We are hoping to find some cool parks and sights to see around there too. I hope that anybody else reading this can help. I will buy you a drink if I see ya! Jason Leung's book "This All Encompassing Trip" has inspired us to live this trip to the fullest.

  • Dundurn Castle is a pretty popular tourist spot in the city, its not far from downtown. Hess Village as some people mentioned and check out the Art Gallery downtown too... its pretty close to the venue.

not sure how much time you have, but Niagara Falls is a short drive and Toronto a short drive the other side of the lake.

We only spent a short time in Hamilton in '05 (Falls started the week / Toronto ended the week)

I will second the sheridan, although it might be booked up completely. If not the admiral inn is close enough.

Restaurants in downtown hamilton worth visiting are.... Black Forest Inn (german/austrian), Hoya/Ajo (Japanese/Korean - looks like a dive, but is awesome), Ya Man (Carribian) Brownies Downtown is pretty good for some higher end eats. If you really want the best, go to the 10 10 bistro in westdale. All these are on King street right downtown except the 1010bistro. Mex I Can on James street and York is the best authentic mexican in the city.

Down James street is a ton of galleries and stuff like that. Arts and whatnot.

The bayfront park is pretty nice (never been myself).

There is a trail that goes all along the escarpment, the view can be pretty amazing, if you are into hiking this is worth checking out but you need to drive to it. Take the 403 to the lincoln alexander parkway, exit at Golf links/mohawk road and make a left onto Mohawk Road, turn left again on Scenic Drive and pull off at the parking lot right at the escarpment. The road makes a bend and the pull off is on the left. The trail starts there. There is a sign indicating the trail.

There are a ton of spots like this throughout the city.

If you need anything like rock t shirts, shoes (vans, dr martins etc) Patches, stickers and whatnot, Rock and Tees has a vast selection.

Off the the top of my had thats all I can think of.

I have lived in this city my whole life....
