They said they are still looking for it and I they don't find it they will compensate me well. But what sucks is that the ticket stub is irreplacable, I could just but another poster if need be..but not the ticket stub :-(

  • ouch.... tell them its irreplaceable and they should do your framing for free unless they can come up with one.

I was nervous about leaving my Milwaukee ticket stubs with my Vedder poster....they're small enough that could be easily lost.

That sucks.....it's not like they can go on ebay and get a new one.

Better yet... it's priceless. And free framing for life would be a good start at replacing the ticket stub.

actually he probably can, it's a definite long shot of course, but some people do sell their unused tickets/stubs on ebay. if anything you can check there from time to time if they can't find it :o good luck, hope all goes well

I guess it is possible to score another ticket, but what makes it personal is the seating.

If I were you, I dont think I could bear to see the poster hanging on the wall without the stub.

So, just to be a stand up guy, send me the poster once it gets back from the framer. PM me and I will tell you how I want it shipped.

Thanks! You're right, the poster would just give me bad memories of my missing stub. PM sent... Hey, wait a minute... ;-)

  • So the plot thickens. They didn't lose the stub, they tried to dry-mount it instead of museum-mount it and the stub got fucked up. They guy calls and asks "do you have another ticket?" I said "no dumb-ass, I only sat in one seat!" He said they are gonna try and call Massey Hall and get another ticket stub...good luck with that.

    Man, that does suck.

Here's a suggestion... did you go alone? Because what you could do is get your companion's ticket if you didn't go alone. And if said companion is unwilling to part with the ticket, you could scan it, and have the scan mounted w/ the poster. Ghetto, I know, but might be a solution. I did that with a stub I lost (had the scan framed with a sho poster), and it turned out OK, considering.

they tried to dry-mount it instead of museum-mount it and the stub got fucked up.

    just a question...did you ask for dry-mount or museum-mount?

if you were paying for one and they did another, that seems shady. the question then becomes...are they charging you for stuff they are not doing?

i haven't framed any of my posters yet so i don't know the difference between the two types of mountings.

Dry-mount is done by adding a tissue adhesive and heat to help flatten a rolled poster. They should not have done that with the stub as it was all ready flat and supposedly it made the ink run and the whole stub turned dark purple. I don't they were trying to do anything shady...I think they just fucked up.

To answer your other question: They are not charging me at all now.

  • i actually think that was pretty awesome of them to try and contact massey hall. i know it still sucks, but it's cool of them to at least try and make up for it instead of shrugging it off. good luck

wow. that sucks. thats why all my posters are still not frammed. im fucking horrified that they will fuck one up.

at least its not your poster, and at least you are getting a free frame job.

so museum mounting is what most do? ive also never been clear on what to ask for as far as framing.

When I dropped my posters off, I had massive anxiety as I left the store. I felt goofy for feeling the stress. It didn't help any that after I left the posters, tix, etc...they let it sit on the counter. My wife finally asked them if they were going to properly store it before we left. I feel for you. I would have been pissed beyond words if any of my items had been missing/ damaged.

I know the feeling. The people in the shop never have the same reverence as me. Probably because they deal with hundreds of these things, but still. At least pretend you care! ;)

I feel for you, Red Burrito. Seems weird that they'd drymount a stub. I didn't care too much how they mounted mine so I'm not sure what they did, but seems like drymount would be more effort?

Very sad story. :( Sure hope it works out for you. There is a huge difference in framers out there, as there is for every profession. Get references and find a good one. :)

ouch! that is very un-professional. hope you get compensated! or better yet they find it!
  • Ah that's definitely a bummer, I would be kind of disappointed too. I definitely understand the significance of them, but just remember, ticket stubs are just pieces of paper. The only things truly irreplaceable in my opinion are your memories of the show, and no one can lose those. Toronto II was arguably the best show of Eddie's solo tour and I'm jealous as hell that I wasn't there. Listen to the bootleg, relieve it, and smile about how lucky you were to have been there. :)

I feel for you. Some of you might remember that I lost my ticket stub from Chicago I, and by some miracle was lucky enough to have a really kind person return it, after it had traveled quite some distance. Before that happened though, I was seriously considering calling the Auditorium Theatre to see if I could bribe them into reprinting my ticket. I'm just curious, did the framers have any luck with getting another ticket from Massey Hall? Whatever the case, I'm glad to hear that they're not charging you. I'm sorry to hear about the whole thing.
  • As far as the framer I went to, they are just a local gallery...not a chain, but they do all sorts of framing for professional artists so I had faith in them...but mistakes do happen. They admitted they should not have dry-mounted the ticket.

I have not heard anything from them yet whether Massey Hall can be of any help. You're right, the stub is just a piece of paper and the memories of Toronto II will never fade...just a little disappointed at this point.

Oh man, you're making me nervous, I have four posters at the framer's right now. This is a good warning that most of the chain store employees are not professional framers, so framee beware...

Sorry to hear about your ticket getting fucked up, but if you're insistent enough and don't let them walk on you they should make it up to you...

So I was wrong about it being a chain store, my bad. I thought a local place would know what they were doing, but I guess you can never be too sure.

  • Laser printed tickets are heat sensitive... That's why you can't leave them in the car or in in direct sunlight... They fade really quickly. So, if they tried to drymount them, then they would get f'ed up...

I am new to the poster/frame craze, but I am about to get a few things framed most likely next week.

Should they 'dry-mount' the poster? or do you just tell them to be extra careful, flatten it out and frame it [behind glass]?

What are the proper procedures so to speak?
