"Ole" Lyrics (Please contribute)

This is a stab, but you've gotta start somewhere. This is the studio version. (It was sung differently on TV.) Correction welcome.

"Ole"

Oh, what you say, what you say, what you gonna say when your life ends?
What you gonna say? Ole!
Ah, what you say, what you say, what can you say of importance?
What you gonna say but “Ole!”?
Ah, what you say, what you say when there’s too much you can’t breathe in?
What you gonna say but “Ole!”?

I ain’t got words for what goes on
I ain’t got words for all that’s wrong
What do you say? Meditate
Meditate, Ole!

What you say when they give the guy the go-ahead?
What you gonna say? Ole!
What you say, what you say when your spitting up on your bed?
What you gonna say? Ole!
What you say, what you say when you’ve had enough of knuckleheads
What you gonna say? Ole!
What you say, now, what you say when you’ve seen enough bloodshed?
What you gonna say? Stop!

I still can’t help but wonder why
I’m feeling laughed at by the sky
What do you say, meditate?
Meditate, Ole!

When your life ends
When your life ends
When your life ends
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Can anyone make out the backing vocals at the end? (While Ed repeats "When your life ends.")

I'm hearing at the end ... "With your life focused! With your life focused!...." But I could easlily be convinced otherwise.

Definitely 'when your life falls' at the end, but it sounds like there might be something else also being shouted. ...

And it's gonna drive me crazy because I'm a word guy. How to properly type Olé: hit 'option' and E together, then hit E again, and ... Olé!

I believe Matt is singing "Always looking"

And apparently the studio version Ed sings "when your life fails", but on Fallon he sang "when your life ends"

I was hearing "When you lack focus."
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I am hearing "When your life sucks" but that could be a Freudian slip in my brain ;-)

    I'm discarding all thought

This is much better than the Bouncing Souls song that everyone chants at soccer games (or Montreal hockey games) that just goes:

    OLE, OLE OLE OLE!
    O-LE...
    O-LE!

    (repeat 1 million times)

Hey Kid Canada, YouTube Pearl Jam Ole and you'll find the band partaking in that soccer tradition. somewhere in central America, I think. Can't help but wonder if that experience somehow inspired Eddie for this song.

i'll try to explain what the word means in portuguese at least, there's the spanish version also but quite mutch the same
    (my spelling is awfull, sorry)
first of all try to use ´´´ in the e, like this,... Olé, if you don't use it it sounds like 'owl' :) and it's a non existing word just because of the lack of the accent
Olé it's a mocking word, started to be used in a bull arena and still. Inside it there's only a man with a red cape with a covered sword witch he uses to cover imself also, and the bull, 500Kg plus, and two sharp horns, black. When the bull comes and reatches the red cape the man step's aside and let im hit only the cape, and in that moment the crowd goes olé, it dosen't go olé every time, only when it's a really good feint... it's a controversial issue what they do to the animals i agree, but the generacions tradiction it's bigger then that.

It's also used in soccer matches! ;) Good feints, like when 1-on-1 you get the ball to pass beetwen the opponent legs that will get one good olé... Or just when passing the ball around when winning and the opponents can't get it, the crowd goes olé every time the ball gets passed, it's awesome when it turns in to a goal.

    Hope it helped you
