Westboro Baptist Church topicket upcoming Foo Fighters concert Published on September 5th, 2011 Written by: TracyS

Religious zealots are to picket outside an upcoming Foo Fighters concert after accusing the rockers of promoting “fornication, adultery and idolatry”. Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, comprised mostly of Pastor Fred Phelps’ family members, are planning a stake-out when Dave Grohl and his bandmates play the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Kansas on 16 September (11).

A statement from the anti-gay fundamentalists reads: “These people have a platform and should be using it to encourage obedience to God; instead they teach every person who will listen all things contrary to him: fornication, adultery, idolatry, (expletive)…” “The people in this nation have sinned away their day of grace and have so enraged their God that you are seeing new outpourings of his wrath continually. We will be there to remind you that the day of your destruction is upon you, even as you vainly seek comfort in the frivolities of this life.”

    How come if I were to go outside and blast a Bob Dylan protest song, I would get cited for disturbing the peace.

    But these guys can go out yell hate speech, personally debase/denounce people, and carry picket signs while gathering in masses and have this considered to be peaceful protest?

    :roll: There was a guy outside ACL yelling at us through a bullhorn that we were all going to hell cause we were listening to rock music and following their beliefs. There is no telling how many middle fingers he got. and Yes, I do believe in religion, and God, I just don't push my beliefs on people about things, political, religious ect.

    What is the point of protesting these things? If you like it go, if you don't like it, then don't go, but trying to push an opinion on people because they like a rock band's music is rediculous. As long as people don't act on their beliefs in a harmful manner towards others then there shouldn't be an issue. Sorry, a bit of a rant there, but to protest a rock band because they can utilize their voice.... Please :roll: We all are entitled to our own opinions, and as long as actions aren't acted out negatively to hurt others, then there is no problem.
