the crumpled pieces of paper lay at my feet,
like spent stingers from a bee.
unlike the bee,
I would live on without them.
"speed up, speed UP" he said,
the gun pointed at my chest
this.... metaphorical nightmare, takes too much time.
an eyewitness to a mindfuck homicide,
nowhere to be found.
my eyes black with oil,
open for what feels like the first time
"I guess I'm not dead" I say.
she laughed at me...
said my appearance might suggest otherwise.
I call you here on such short notice,
to give you my self diagnosis..
bleak though it may be,
I want to believe...
step away, step away...
"that's what they want" is all she could say
and with a strength all her own,
she walked away...
