How is it possible...

DSTURNERJR wrote:that in the year 2011, a band with it's own radio station couldn't stream their 20th anniversary celebration for their fans who couldn't be there? I'm staring at my laptop Saturday night, listening to poor sound and a practically black screen from a cell phone of a person who was (admirably) trying to share the experience. I love everything about this band, but this was a major blunder. Between this and the constant ticket disasters, the band needs to hire someone who can handle the technology aspect of today's music world.
Would have killed to see both those setlists, btw....
It's not that they couldn't, they just didn't want to.
I think selling sweatshirts with the wrong dates and the wrong state for full price is a little more ridiculous.Member 164xxx

To say that a pro shot webcast, that would be ripped as it happened and most likely already available on various torrent sites wouldn't hurt possible future sales is absurd.
I don't remember so many people crying about the Philly shows not being webcast.
Maybe were too busy trying to get shit lined out for the weekend, discussing who's guesting where and when goin through the warehouse for the museum goodies, rehearsing songs they never play to worry about something so meaningless.
Yeah, I would've watched the Saturday stream if they had, but I think I was just as happy/giddy watching everything unfold all day saturday as I woulda been had it been streamed.0 -

So that the 10C folks who paid $3000 would get the exclusive "first listen."
So the "upper class" of the Ten Club gets all the rights and privileges? Sounds like something the band would rail against, not participate in.....
I'm confused. Who paid $3000?
The people coming from overseas to the show.Member 164xxx

Yes, it would have been nice. Two US shows in the middle of nowhere for their 20th anniversary celebration is a bit weak. It sounds like everyone who wanted to go and was able to go enjoyed it. But there is a whole army of fans worldwide who should have been able to join the celebration over the web.0

I think that's a great point. If PJ20 would have been part of a decent sized US tour, then I can see not having a webcast. But these 2 shows were (probably) the only 2 US shows of the entire year. I hope the question is asked on the next AET...and hopefully Tim will have something more to say than his "form your own band and do things your way" standard answer. If it was just the bands decision not to do it, maybe some actual insight as to what their thought process and reasoning was.0 -

but anyway, like the Rob said
they just didnt want to
and I am fine with that
I haven't done the math, but it seems like one could have done the shows for less than $3000. I know I did.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -

Webcast yes, sales hit. But using their station to air the shows...I don't think so.I've met Rob
