Between songs, Vedder sang a line that he said just came to him that morning....

How did it go?

My recollection is

"I'm so glad we made it ...
so glad we made it....
so glad we made it.....
so glad we made it....

to where it started getting good."

was that how it went? That was awesome

"I'm so glad we made it, to when it all got good."

Line of the fucking night. Ed was writing, obviously, about the longevity of the band and their friendships together, which have endured a lot. As we all know, there were some moments along the way where it got touch-and-go, and the life of the band was in jeopardy, and it kind of sucked to be in Pearl Jam. The song was about just how good it was to survive, to the point where they're "so in love with life."

The line hit me right in the gut. I think you can naturally apply this to any relationship in your life. I'd been going through some shit with the most important person in my life lately, and just before I left for PJ20, it felt like we had come out the other side. This song, this line, gave me so much optimism about that relationship.

"I'm so glad we made it, to when it all got good."

  • Know what else that line tells us?

They're going to be around a while.
San Jose 10/93, San Francisco 6/95, San Jose 11/95, St Louis 4/03, Columbus 5/10, MSGII 5/21/2010, Alpine Valley 09/03/2011 and 09/04/2011
  • Ah, what a song! Words that perfectly describe why all of us follow this band and played at the perfect moment in the show. A true reflecting moment for me, right there!

So glad I made it...to the shows...and to when it all got good!!!

Thanks Pearl Jam and all the fans who make this trip so magical!!
