WOW - did Ed's comments about Matt make it sound like Matt kept 'em together?

Think that was pretty much a given no? If Matt hadn't joined, there would probably not have been a 20th anniversary.

I am so completely overwhelmed by this experience.

My big surprise of the night was No Way, it was so funky and unexpected.

Those guys were having so much fun. There was one point, during Chris's Call Me a Dog, that Stone took his guitar off and stood way off to the side, arms crossed and just rocking out by himself, looking like all of us.

Eddie was grinning, Mike was running laps around the stage during STBC. Jeff looked loose and happy, and Boom was beaming.

    Wow. What a night.

    Crowd AWESOME, so into it.

I can't believe I got to be part of this experience.

Now I realise why Ed thanks Matt so much on countless bootlegs.....and I can't wait for the bootlegs of these 2 amazing shows - the set lists were fantastic, a true celebration of PJ20, and after watching the videos from night 1 and listening to night 2 (THANKS AGAIN GARY, U R AMAZING TOO!!!), it seemed to my aging ears as though the band was firing as good as ever - Mike's solos especially blew me away. Having today off work was truly worth it!!! ;)

I've said this too for a long time. Makes me feel good that Ed said this to the crowd tonight. It's totally true.

I find it hard to believe in 2 nights at PJ20, Corduroy is not going to get played....

I've heard it so many times before, but if I don't get to hear Corduroy in Ontario the week after next I'm going to be gutted.... I'm not going to demand a refund or anything  ... but I just love corduroy....

The song Corduroy probably doesn't have it's place at a celebratory event for Pearl Jam since it's basically about the struggle with fame and what that means. I love this song, but when it gets played at concerts especially as an opener (LA 2009 Night 2) I've always thought it's their ironic way of saying F-U to their fans. Well at least that's how I felt when they played it for the LA crowd.

I've said it countless times that if JACK hadn't joined when he did, Pearl Jam would have split up by now. Easily.

    fixed. ;)

jack came in at a much more tenuous time for the band. by the time they completed yield things were much more harmonious. i think they would have found someone else if matt was unavailable.

plus jack was behind the drum kit for the bands most creative albums. so there's that.

Okay the ones MIA are "New World (with John Doe)" between "Black" and "Unthought Known" and "Public Image" - played much to Gary's dismay :D - which was perfectly placed in between "No Way" and "Smile". Also "Alive" kicked off the third encore, I do believe.
