So, Will Pearl Jam Play a Benefit Concert For Obama?

edited October 2008 in The Porch
From Dave Matthews to Springsteen, it seems the Obama supporters are putting on shows across the board. What are the chances that PJ joins the bandwagon for a special show?

    I hope not.

PJ (as a whole) needs to stay out of politics.

LMAO!!! Sure, they'll stay out of politics. I saw Vedder in Boston at the acoustic show and they had people on stage walking behind him with a huge Obama banner. And I'm sure if they did the concert, you'd attend.

I don't fault them at all for actually giving a sh*t about who is leading their country. They aren't preachy about it, there aren't any Obama banners on the website.

Ed is playing it safe until Obama is actually elected and proves to be a good president. Assuming that Obama IS elected and DOES prove to be a good president.

Dude, who are you kidding? If they announced a benefit show, you'd be setting up your FireFox browser counting the days to when tix go on sale thru TenClub.

of course I would, but it's VERY doubtful. The band and the ten club has already said numerous times that they are done touring for the year. They didn't even play Bridge and a lot of people thought that it was going to happen

i think Stone pulling his pants up and getting the gang sans-eV together to "Rock Around Barack" was as close as we're going to get :)

I saw him do the same thing in Chicago and you're right, I probably would attend a concert. Not to support any Candidate though... just to rock out. Like most of the other people there.

If PJ played a show to support McCain, do you think no one would show up?

I don't see what's so great about pissing off a huge chunk of the fan base. At the Bonnaroo show, Ed made a statement about music NOT changing the world.....

    he's right.

Sad as it it, Pearl Jam being in the spotlight for Obama could only hurt. It's like Madonna calling McCain a Nazi. Do us a favor celebs - give wads of cash, not endorsements.

    Springsteen is probably an exception - his appeal is w i i i i i i i i d e! :p
