To say that Pearl Jam is the only music I listen to would make me an ass and a complete lying idiot. So no, its definitely not the only band I listen to, though they are my favorite. When I first started to listen to them about 10 years ago (so i was 10 haha), they were all my dad and I listened too. But then I got into classic rock, metal, stoner rock, hard modern rock, progressive metal, and alternative metal. And to this day one of the reasons I can still say that PJ is my favorite band is because I always come back to them eventually and say to myself, "this is the best thing ive ever heard in my life..."

    Hi (merhaba) to all,
    For me music is like water. Lifts me up, refreshes me, gives me waves, gives me tides, soothes me ... I listen to many many bands not just PJ since I'm Turkish and there is lots of good music in Anatolia and elsewhere. As with genetics, the more diversity the more strength, so I feel blessed to be able to appreciate music from all corners of the world. As Andy also says, yes music is our international language for communication.

    Communication is severely needed now. I'm a biologist and I've lately seen many of the work done just for titles egos etc. I stil respect science a lot but I cannot understand how we can expect to change the world to a better place if we cannot make communicatin bridges btw science community and public and scientsist and artists etc etc. Wildlife doesn't just belong to scientists. It belongs to all of us and wildlife should also be felt not just measured.

    I respect PJ so much since they've been doing a lot of communication in this respect reacting to what's going on. For example the oceans webpage was so great, gave me motivation in my work :)

    Sometimes you can like a band, a musician because of their music but you cannot feel a bond with them. I feel so happy that, since 1992 ( that's how we learned about PJ in Turkey) I loved their music and with each year I loved them even more. It's so beautiful to feel that way.

    I love writing and it's so inspirational to listen to one favourite band who is having the water/ocean theme so strong in their work. In Ten there was "Oceans" and I knew about them surfing but guess I wouldn't have thought love for ocean would reveal itself this strongly.

    Lately I'm so sad that I cannot see any PJ shows ( due to economy and immigrant visa situations etc). The last one I saw was in 2000. Also I saw them in Turkey in 1996. There are many hungy people in the world, people who have never had chance to travel to see their bands live etc etc. So I am fine with this. Only I guess I could like the peace it could put in my heart. Music heals me...

    Today is world peace day as far as I know but noone here in JUneau seemed to celebrate it even know about it :( I have been severely insomniac again so I couldn't arrange anythign myself and hope I'm right about the day.

    Happy peace day!
    It didin't sound very nice to my ear so let me write it in Turkish too;

    Living is no laughing matter: you must live with great seriousness like a squirrel for example - I mean without looking for something beyond and above living, I mean living must be your whole occupation.
