So, I've never really paid attention to Dave Matthews before but the past week or so I've been listening to his Some Devil cd and I have to say..."I love it!!" :D

For the people that know DMB music, which cds should I buy next? :geek:

  • "Live @ Luther College." It is the only DM music I own, although my wife has lots of his and loves him.
This is he and his guitarist, Tim Reynolds, playing an acoustic set...this is a 2 disc album.
Very cool guitar play between the two of them and I enjoy it more than regular DMB stuff.
You can You Tube the two names and sample some of their live shit to see if you like.
The love he receives is the love that is saved
  • well that's my favourite too, some devil...
You should try Dave & Tim at luther collage, that's what hooked me up in the past.
They have an extensive live portfolio, from the trax volumes i sugest the number 10, here in Lisbon, it has some devil in it, like an awesome Gravedigger with a sing along. The one in Boston it's ok too, i think it's number 6.

Huge Dave and DMB fan here!!

As for Dave & Tim, I think Live At Radio City is flawless. Bartender, Lie in Our Graves, and #41 are highlights of the discs for me. Also my very favorite performance of 41 ever. Live at Luther College, as other people mentioned, is another great release. Some really cool acoustic versions on there- love Minarets, Warehouse, and Halloween!

Then as for DMB, I tend to agree with many people that their 'Big Three'- their first 3 albums: Under the Table and Dreaming, Crash, Before These Crowded Streets- along with their latest Big Whisky & The GrooGrux King are their best albums. If I had to pick a favorite it would have to be Before These Crowded Streets! All are really fantastic albums, I'd go with those 4 first. But also don't discount the other albums! Busted Stuff has some classics on there, Everyday has some really fun songs, but some clunkers for sure as well. Stand Up is my least favorite album but has some live favorites on there.

I am in total agreement with everything samjam said here. Been a DMB fan for a long time. Sounds like you'd really enjoy Dave & Tim, the Radio City show is incredible! I finally got to see them perform in Chicago this summer and it was awesome.

the radio city show is very, very good. I have heard Luther college, but don't have it.

I do have a question though: Does DMB release soundboard boots of their shows, like PJ does? I'd like to let my cousin know, He's a huge DMB fan?

pretty sure you can get a professional recording of any dmb show. i'm not a huge fan, but i did go on a kick back in 2003 where i exclusively listened to pj and dmb bootlegs for a year straight. i honestly haven't voluntarily listened to dmb since. not to say they aren't good, just not for me. anyway, from my year of experience, haha, the dmb bootlegs typically sound much better than the pj boots.

Correct me if I'm wrong here anyone--

DMB frequently release soundboard quality live stuff, mostly as CDs they sell on their website called Live Trax (though there are some soundboard quality big store released for example Weekend On The Rocks, Listener Supported, The Central Park Concert). Fan club members also get annual CDs featuring soundboard quality live stuff. But as for official bootlegs of every single show- I'm pretty sure that's not out there. But yes, DMB are very taper friendly and you can pretty easily find audio in good quality of just about any show you're looking for. The people over at DMB's antsmarching forum could probably help your cousin out with anything bootleg related he needs!
