Ya I know it's a sinking ship but between my long nails and my Toe Thumbs, I can't text on a touch screen so an iphone is not an option. You've said no to android and poked fun at Blackberry....can I ask, do you have an exclusivity contract with Apple preventing you from releasing this app on any other platform?

    +1

Haven't given in to the Apple addiction, yet. I love my Blackberry. Texting is soooo much easier, especially on the Bold.

hahaha, no exclusivity contract or anything like that.

In all seriousness, the long version is this: Unfortunately, the way apps are developed, you can't make it once and release it across all platforms easily(well - there ARE some ways to do that, but they aren't very good options). So you essentially have to build and maintain each version of an app separately from the ground up. Since this is a project I do for free, it's hard to find the time and resources to do that.

For a possible Android version of the app, I would say it's more of an "eventually" than a "no." I would love for an Android developer to take it on - I would be happy to help as much as possible, share the art, etc. I just don't have the time to do it myself right now. I'd like to see it out there, for sure, but there is no timetable for it and I'm not working on it.

Next up would be a version for the new Windows OS, which looks pretty sweet. Blackberry is in an unfortunate position in the phone wars because they are viewed, as you said, as a sinking ship. For that reason, it's hard for any developer to put them high on the priority list, which is only making their situation worse.

That's pretty much it...the two most common requests I get are for an Android version and to add EV solo shows to the app. Both of those will happen eventually, I hope!

have you considered making a web version on a site...would that be easier to do as a 2ndary thing or maybe even take over as the main source since then everyone will have access and mobility isnt really needed for this kind of thing

If you started with Android, I would have totally written the iOS version..

But I don't know java and would be useless writing for android. (Not to mention how much easier it is with storyboard and the standarized screen of the iphone..)

Same as Android, would love to see it done, but it's a big project and would have to be done from the ground up. Time is the main issue. In an ideal world there would be a server that acts as a hub and then the mobile apps and website would all communicate with it and live together as one big happy stat tracking family making everyone happy. That is a massive undertaking without a team and also costs money to maintain.

This way I can do it on my own time and distribute it for free, so people can have it for free. I also totally disagree about mobility not being needed for this kind of thing - I would argue that it is needed for everything now.

Hopefully that helps explain the issues, I definitely have long term plans in mind, but I can't put a timeframe on any of them. I think it's better to say there are no current plans than to get people's hopes up about an imminent Android release.

On the plus side, the app has evolved significantly since the first version, and is now approaching 20,000 users. I'm pretty happy with that! :)

Thank you for the reply and I totally understand your position. I wouldn't be inclined to do a blackberry app either if I were you lol.
It's a shame that nobody has discovered a way to build a single Ap that works on muliple platforms without giving it's developers headaches lol. I have Windows 7 on my laptop, so I guess I'll have to hold out for a possible Windows release of your app. :)
At one time there was a website that had a stat tracker on it. I think it was on The Sky I Scrape before one of their many re-launches. I LOVED it, but they took it down a few years ago. I guess they didn't have anyone to maintain it anymore or it took up too much space/bandwith on their server.
I've been to so many shows (61 and counting) so I NEED something like this lol.

LOL too labour intensive man, and I'm not savy enough on it to be able to create a sheet that has all the options I would want on it. I also don't have MS office installed on my laptop. I've never needed it at home.

It only takes 1 rainy day when you are extremely bored to do! And with 61 shows i'm sure that would be worth it!

Yeah, I had a little typo when I initially uploaded the setlist after the Amsterdam gig, so it didn't process that song correctly. Anyone who downloaded it that night or the morning after has the same problem. Such is the damage an errant comma can do.

I'll update the app again next month and will fix that problem. Or you can fix it yourself by deleting the app and reinstalling it. Then it will download the corrected setlist for you. :)

    Sorry for the trouble!
