PJ Ticket Drops (canadian tour)

just wondering what experiences you guys have had in the past with "ticket drops" (ie. tickets released closer to the show date even on "sold out" shows). Ive had luck in the past with other artists but in 2009 was completely shut out of the Toronto show. I expected something would be released closer to the date but from what i know almost nothing was released for this show. Im currently holding out for the sept 11th show (trying to avoid the 300 level far back tickets currently available) but dont want to get shut out of this show as well b/c i got "greedy". Im only looking for a single tickets so im hoping this increases my odds. Any thoughts/advice?

For the Vancouver show I caved and went Stub Hub. Hated to do it but made the plans too late in the game to get decent tix elsewhere and since I was flying up to see it I couldnt risk hammering Ticketmaster to get some last minute deals.
Also, (and I'm not 100% on this) but I think ticket drops happen at like 10am or 11 am...i don't think it's a random time like 4:38 in the afternoon or anything.
I don't have a lot of experience in this but I hope this helps.

In Amphitheaters (and non-arenas)
For any major concert, bands have a contract that gives them X amount of tickets that the band can give to friends, families, etc. They usually ask for the same amount of tickets for every show, since they don't know ahead of time if friends or family or record company people can come. Inevitably, in most areas bands know few people. Once the band comes up with their guest list on the day of the show, any extras are put back in the system to be put on sale. This happens usually between 10am - 3pm, but can happen even later. Those remaining tickets are many times first sold at the box office for anyone looking, then thru TM. So, if a show is sold out, and if someone wants tickets, they can go to the box office and wait... and if their timing is right, they'll get some. Many times they are great seats on the floor and just off to the sides.
...and this for Arenas:
In arenas there are usually even more tickets released on the day-of show. Each band brings their own sound and lighting gear, but they don't want to sell tickets that are blocked by speakers... and each arena is slightly different... so before a show goes on sale, they block large areas of seats on either sides of the stage since they don't know ahead of time exactly what is blocked. Once a band gets to the venue and "flies the system" of speakers, the production managers stand by in each seat that was held back from sale and determine what seats are still good. The ones which are still good are called "Tech Releases" and put back on sale. The ones which are bad are called "Tech Kills" and left empty. This happens at different times, but usually soon after a sound system is flown - so usually between 11noon and 2pm, but again can happen later.
Pretty much every arena show, regardless of how high in demand or sold out it may be, has tickets released the day-of.

On Wednesday, they dropped the first sidestage section on Mike's side at ~3PM. My friends ended up 4 rows up with day of tix.
