I followed The Grateful Dead for many years. Was at their last two shows at Soldier Field in 95. Then saw PJ a few days after that at Soldier Field. Ironically the dead had let PJ borrow their stage for that show. That was my 2nd PJ show. Jerry died the next month. I needed something to fill the void. It was PJ. At first I did not know what was happening but many years later it became clear. The connection between these two bands goes back to that summer for me. A terrible loss was bridged with a tremendous gift. That borrowed stage from the summer of 95 offered more than just support for The Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam.
