if you have a gas fired heater you should should make sure to turn off the gas if the pilot light goes out...

if it's electric, your probably ok.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

and shut off the power to it and anything else electrical down there before the water starts rising.

Turn of the gas ASAP. The water will put the pilot light out but it won't stop the gas from flowing.

Turn off and unplug any electric anything, and just try to get everything outta there while you can.

    Do you have a pump?

You can see the pilot light by opening up the panel on the side. It's always on. Turn off the gas.

besides turning off the gas before it floods
its prob also a good idea to cut the power to the basement
BEFORE you go wading round in there checking things out
i'm sure your breaker box has a switch that will let you turn off just that section of your home

    and good luck

we're battening down the hatches here too

check in after the storm passes
    peace,

As others have said....kil the gas to it and anything else down there.

    Sounds fun
