I thought it'd be nice if we could list our favourite record stores in our hometown. With so many people travelling to concerts these days maybe they would like to check out record stores elsewhere to look for vinyl.

Hope this is alright with Admin.

If ever in the area I'll check it out...Dr. Disc has been in business since '82...nice store...sell new/used CD's, Vinyl. Like any used record store, it's just going in at the right time hoping someone has just sold them what you are looking for.

A good 1 in Toronto for those travelling to shows in that area is Sonic Boom, not sure of the street though and I think they have 2 locations... :D:D

Record and Tape Traders have a good selection, but they've gone way too corporate the past couple years.

Great thread. I live in Cincinnati and I went to Cleveland and Columbus to see the Eels last month and found record stores in both towns. It's fun finding places like that.

In Cincinnati I mainly go to Everybody's Records. I've shopped there all my life.

There is also Shake It Records which is a little bigger but I prefer to support Everybody's.

Chicago has tons of record stores.

Reckless Records (3 locations-Loop, boystown, wicker park)
    Dave's Records (Lincoln Park)
    Record Breakers (South Loop)
    Permanent Records (Ukranian Village)
Laurie's Planet of Sound (Lincoln Square)

These are the better ones (neighborhoods in parenthesis).

When in Seattle - check out 'Bop Street Records' in Ballard. That place is a goldmine of great vintage records. Huuuge stock.

With over 30 locations in New England, Newbury Comics is a pretty good one. But they sell more CD's and memorabilia than records.

My 2 go to record stores near my that are all vinyl are:

In Your Ear Records (Boston, Cambridge, RI)
    Nuggett Records (Boston)

Two great stores here in Calgary are The Inner Sleeve and Recordland. Both specialize in vinyl, but they also sell new and used CDs, DVDs, and books. Still though, the best record store I've ever seen is Amoeba in San Francisco. Incredible store. I could spend hours in that place. The one in Hollywood is pretty good as well.

    San Diego has a few.

Lous Records is the best bet, huge selection. http://www.lousrecords.com/main/index.php

M-Theory is very good too, smaller selection though. http://www.mtheorymusic.com/

Moved from the DC Metro area to here in S. Florida. Very close to the University of Maryland in College Park is one of the best record stores called CD Depot on Rhode Island Ave. Two years ago they bought out a couple Vynil records stores and now have a vast collection along with their massive sellection of CD's both new and used. Mostly soul and R&B and some rock on vynil.
Also they has a huge collection of Pearl Jam live concerts, it seemed like EVERY concert they ever played, I lost track after 500+). I used to spend hours in that place, down here in the Plam Beaches I haven't found any, the few i saw a couple years ago are ALL out of business now.
