More on that famous "at 22" picture of Perry and Obama

The above image is being gleefully posted on forums such as Free Republic and Rush Limbaugh's equally fascist brother is tweeting it to all his followers. It was also posted here.
Nobody is mentioning that Obama's photo was taken while he was a senior majoring in political science at Columbia University. That's the Ivy League, Tea... people. He was the first black president of the Law Review.
And despite what the photo suggests, at age 22 Rick Perry was not some glory-drenched fighter pilot strafing Vietnamese civilians with napalm. He was a male cheerleader at Texas A&M with a D average.
This is not what America needs.

That may be the case. I reserve judgement.
I just want people to know what they're actually looking at... the suggestion is that one was a brave heroic fighter pilot and one was a stoner hippie drifter. And that just isn't accurate.
Godfather.
Nice
I saw a segment on Colbert or Stewart (I can't remember which) which claimed he wasn't black at all by a black historian woman, her name also escapes me. Her argument was that the term "black" with respect to American history, is associated with people descending from African slaves. She went on to say that there was a certain identity that they share because of that, and that technically Obama cannot claim this lineage being born in the USA to one Kenyan parent who obviously immigrated here much later. Obama is more of a true "African American" in that sense. I thought that was an interesting way of looking at it.
I for one, think its great that Obama is (was?) a hippie

I said "of the law review." At Columbia. Bill Clinton was the first black president of the United States.
Obama is the furthest thing from a hippie.
oh you got that ??

Obama caught my eye first and I thought 'dude'. Then I looked at the other picture and thought 'wanker'.
young obama is pretty cool looking to my notion, looks smarter than your average badass student. anyone know obama's grades from school? i have heard obama writes a great number of his speeches. maybe he writes em all, i dunno.

Considering he is still running two wars that Bush started, and has expanded into Pakistan and Libya, he could easily be more of a warmonger than Bush.
Were still at war with Iraq? Since when? Last time I checked we were helping them rebuild. All of the combat troops were taken out last year...
Better than being a Rambo wannabe.
yes

There are still over 100,000 troops there. Call it what you want.
It's alot easier to get into a war situation than it is to get out.

No, you don't.
You see a person posing for a picture. In front of a jet he didn't know how to fly. He wasn't a fighter pilot. He was a cheerleader. He was a posing.
Like poseurs tend to do.
those texas guys like to dress up like badasses with those jets don't they.. i think i would like rick perry a little more if he actually did what a lot of texans do....meaning that there are more cowboys that are native texans than fighter pilots...
