yes. adam jones. i like his brain and his playing aint bad either. aenima. prison sex. seeing them live at sidney myer music bowl in melbourne january 2007. oh and whilst leaning against the 'D' barrier at this years BDO sydney i looked up to see adam, justin and danny walk past me on their way back to backstage after taking a peak at rammstein. that was nice.

Tool is the best. I've seen them 4 times and they never dissapoint.
Wings for Marie > 10000 days is amazing. I also love eulogy parabol and parabola.
I went to Jerome, az this summer and did a tasting at maynard's wine bar. Great place and the wine was really good. Rent blood into wine if you haven't seen it.
tool are great, love opiate, undertow, anenima, salival, lateralus i even like maynard's side projects like a perfect circle, puscifer is a bit out there though! best song vicarious
One of my favorites. Most memorable show was at the Hammerstein Ballroom in 01, right after Lateralus came out. Tremendous setlist, split into two sets:
The Grudge
Stinkfist
Forty-Six & 2
Prison Sex
Schism
Pushit
Disposition
Reflection
Sober
Parabol
Parabola
Ænema
Opiate
Lateralus
See 'em while you still can kids. Maynard's voice is (self-admittedly) on the back nine.
My favorite band other than PJ. I got hooked the first time I heard Prison Sex when it came out.
Me and my wife's first concert together was Lollapalooza '97, we went only to see TOOL and even though it was only an hour long show it was amazing. Maynard did the thing he did back then when half of him was painted blue and the other half orange. It looked cool as hell when he would stand in front of the video screen and the screen would turn blue and it looked like half of him disappeared.
Since then I've only seen them 3 times, all on the 10,000 Days tour. I had tickets to see them on the Lateralus tour in Dayton, Ohio but it was the day after 9/11 so it got cancelled. The last time I seen them was at the PNC Pavillion in Cincinnati which is a pretty small 6,000 seat outdoor venue and I managed to score pit seats and I was like 2 rows from the stage. It was unreal.
Aenima and 10,000 Days are my favorite albums.
Eulogy, Aenema, Third Eye, Lateralus, Parabola, 10,000 Days > Wings for Marie, Rosetta Stoned, and Right in Two. I could almost live off of only those songs for the rest of my life.

Danny Carey would waylay Matty C in a drum off...The guy is inhuman.
My favorite member is easily Adam Jones. I've basically learned guitar from him. He's a tiny bit responsible for me owning a Silverburst LP Custom.
Aenima is their peak, imo. Just destroys me/all from beginning to end. Lateralus is just behind it, just needs a hair more emotion. Been revisiting 10k Days lately and while it's truly awesome there's a few riffs and patterns I feel like they've used before.

You're right. I think they only mix up 2 or three songs. Definitely not a band you would want to travel around for. I like that they wait a while to come out with a new Material. Makes me jones for them more when the rumor mill starts churning.

It really depends on the style of drumming we're talking about here. For example, I'd like to see how Danny would do playing jazz---a la Harybu McCage. I don't know whether Danny plays jazz at all but we certainly have seen/heard that Matt is competent in that realm. Basically, I'm saying that its too broad a statement to say that so-and-so would beat so-and-so in a "drum off". What is a drum off?

Lateralus is in my top 10 albums of all time. I actually didn't even get into Tool until Lateralus came out, but that album hooked me from the first listen.
My favorite songs:
Lateralus
Reflection
Pushit
Prison Sex
Aenema
Hooker With a Penis
Opiate
I was high on mushrooms when I first saw Tool in concert, in 2006. This sounds really stupid and airhead of me, but it was literally one of the greatest things I've witnessed.
The lights and everything was mind-blowing. Their performance of "Lateralus" was something for the ages.
Overall, a wonderful band I think. In my opinion they did the unthinkable and rivaled Led Zeppelin by covering one of their songs masterfully. Tool's take on "No Quarter" is an A+.
Undertow though is probalby my favorite record. I wouldn't say I have a favorite member, I think they all make Tool great.

10,000 days is my least favorite effort of theirs, and yet it still has great tracks. Aside from their fillers, which some are even pleasant to hear and mix in perfectly, I think every Tool album is excellent. I would lump them into the category of bands that consistenly put out great records.

I love Tool!!! Unfortunately, Ive only seen them once and that was on the 10,000 days tour. Really wish I had seen them on the Aenema tour. That's my favorite Tool album, and most definitely on my list of albums to bring with me on a deserted island...It gets pretty regular play for me. Lateralus is close second in their discography.
Its funny b/c usually, Aenema is the first song, alphabetically on my ipod. So whenever i change up the ipod, and plug it back into my car, it automatically starts playing Aenema. I cant ever bring myself to change song until its done. Great fucking song!
Really hoping a new album comes out sometime, anytime, preferably sooner than later. Im afraid that it will be the last album from them, due to Maynard's lack of interest but im really hoping for a new album and tour regardless. The recent APC show left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and more negative feelings toward the front man, but still...its not gonna stop me from going to a Tool concert.
And favorite band member?
No Question...the beast behind the drums! And he most certainly would slay Matt Cameron...(sorry Matt)

You know, this really doesn't bother me. The visuals and stage setup are so elaborate, precise, and connected with the songs that it doesn't really lend itself to varied sets. I would get aggravated when I saw the rigidity as the tour started and the setlists rolled in, but was blown away when I finally caught the shows. I'd rather they stick to a fairly stable setlist on a given tour and not scale back on the visuals.
