It Was

It was a dream
it was a hope
it was a goal

It was a token
of something bigger than we

it carried me overture, setting the flame to any fire you see

It set me sailing on a four-ship course through tumultuous waters while staying steadily adrift on top of waves, it did not waver the whole time through this

It was

It was our big dream built on words
built on breath
It was felt
it was danced to
it was on top
you can see
that it was felt

It was the candle burning quiet solemn nights
when all that warmed the darkness were voices hushed into deep sleep

It was going to happen
when we said we were touching
it was actually all the poems that you see

it was the most pure joy I could turn to

parachutes
you lived it
you just fulfilled it
with someone who is
not me

it was

this just can't be

    now that badass writing
feeling like that hurts pretty bad
for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

    "Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
    sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
    no more forever."

  • Sounds like you had a pretty shitty day - your post from this morning and now this poem.
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Put some PJ on and you will feel better!
A few beers will help too -

I don't comment on poems often, at least not often enough.
There are so many pieces here that I really enjoy, but even though I have this... love affair with words, I usually can't find the RIGHT words to express how some of the poems here touch me.

I'm really fucking tired, and I'm getting ready to ramble... more than I already have.

    My point?

This is really, really fucking good.

Right time for me I guess? I don't know.

Dang Dang, you are a jewel here.

    Thank You.

it's nice that someone said somethin to make you smile cuz hurting like this can really suck even if the words that come out are as good as this

This is deep. Such good writing, that it scares me a little - the content. Seems to ring true in a private part of my head. I don't know what it fully means, or maybe I don't want to

You probably don't want to, although you probably already do. :|

    You know...what you thought was,
and of course its really important
    its just that it wasn't

and your heart falls from a higher-than-it-probably-should-have-been spot (like say, one's sleeve)
and now is walking around doing a poor job of feigning unscathedness

    I get thinner every time
    Stretched line by line
    Ghostly
    Spectre like a gaunt face

Looking beyond the mirror into some place else
    Friends wouldn't recognise me
    I don't recognise me
    The thousand yard stare
Just try and keep it away from company
