I'm in a mood for some modern tunes with a classic, pre-rock n roll feel. I've been listening to Steve Martin's album today.
Does anyone have any recommendations? If so, I'll take 'em!

"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Pete Seeger. He's got so many albums out there it's easy to find on vinyl.

Its been agood year for live music so far. Just saw Gillian Welch with Dave Rawlings in Charlottesville the other night. Also saw Jason Isbell and DBT in seperate shows 2 days apart earlier this spring.
    I'd add to the list:

    Dave Alvin
    Lucinda Williams
    Star Anna
    Alejandro Escovedo
    Uncle Tupelo
    Whiskytown
    Ryan Adams
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

I agree with all the suggestions above. I'd also recommend The Band; perhaps the most Americana band ever.

And his son, Justin Townes Earle.

Harlem River Blues is a fantastic album.
