As a fourth year civil engineering student hoping to enter the world of entertainment engineering, seeing these stages fail regularly is extremely disturbing to me, and a harsh reminder of the importance of doing what I'd like to do, and doing it right. This is so fucking sad.

"Chicago-based indie-rock band Smith Westerns were reportedly playing on The Chateau stage at the time of its collapse. Per the band’s Twitter: “Stage collapsed [Max Kakacek] almost got crushed by the tress. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our shit is broke. Praying no one got hurt. Wtf.” The band appears to have escaped unharmed."

    Hipster priorities.

Lets hope promoters/venues are placed under more scrutiny when it comes to cancelling shows due to threatening weather.

In light of the recent tragedies, it seems as if there needs to be more due dilligence performed before local governments issue permits for temporary stages.

Something to consider is that this stage and the other stage that came down had the same common factor. ...really powerful, bad weather. They can only stand so much (though incredible to watch).

The promoter should have instructed people to leave the areas once bad weather was coming thru.

Twice in a week crazy weather, and twice in a week the stages fall... the production staff at both of those venues should have warned people.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)
