The Doors/Eddie Vedder

Hi. I wasn't sure where to post this topic (I figured this was the best forum), and if the subject already has a thread and I didn't see it, I apologize. Last night, this guy who came into my workplace started talking to me about this because he knows I'm a huge PJ fan, and he always talks to me about music...anyhoo, he said that the members of the Doors wanted to do something with Eddie Vedder at vocals, and it's 'in the works'. This was the first I had heard anything about that. I don't really think that's a very good match, because Ed doesn't sound much like Jim Morrison imo, but I'm no expert. Has anyone else heard about this?

Think John Densmore has said that he'll only reform the band as 'The Doors' if Ed fills in for Jim Morrison! Ed & John obviously big mates & Densmore owns the right to the name 'The Doors' along with Morrisons father......

Eddie inducted the Doors into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 93, and sang a few songs with the band. I think he was thought to fit the bill, and he did a great job.

I hadn't heard your rumour until now, but I see something like was mentioned in 07

John Densmore came onstage and played alongside Eddie in LA this year didn't he?

Personally I don't think it's very likely, mainly because.... Eddie already has a band! :D

WOOOW. That is awesome. I can see it, now. :) Maybe I should have done some research before wording this thread. :? (please feel free to refrain from smart comments. ) The Doors were before my time, but I still loved them when I was discovering music; it's fitting that Ed would be there. Guess the man can do anything.

Ed did a fantastic job as a 'guest' singer with the rest of the Doors. But the Doors are just not the Doors without Jim (though the rest of the band contributed a lot as well). Jim was just too iconic. A bit like Queen without Freddy. Ed's voice suits the Doors songs but reforming under the name with another singer (even Ed)? Not really....

I'd sure as hell go out to see Ed frontman with the Doors

would not miss that and be loving the beautiful tribute to Jim Morrison 8-)

    awesome and then some! :D

Yes. Covering some songs, sure. But it's not the Doors. It would be like someone other than Ed singing for Pearl Jam; it's not them anymore..and Queen could not be Queen without Freddy, totally right! :)
