Oh yeah, it's to a) protect their backyard drug lab b)make them look tough.

The only people I see with these dogs are bogan scumbag lowlives.
My municipality has the highest number of pitbulls in Melbourne.

I love dogs, but this is one breed that I wouldn't mind disappearing all together. I maintain that no matter how good you train it, one day it will snap on someone or worse yet the owner.

    :wtf:

    this is more than wrong

pitbulls are the sweetest of all dogs when treated with love

I too was prejudice against pitbulls until God brought me one to love
that is the answer to all prejudice...

once you love, prejudice is gone and you are not blinded by ignorance
    because your heart knows.

There was concern about other guard breeds like Rotties, Shepherds, Dobies
    when I was young.
But we have now in our society people who own and mistreat dogs
with never the option for love or to be apart of the family.
This the humans plan all along. To use the dog.

We have 2 pits in our extended family and we know many friends
    and neighbors who own pits.

Of course these are loving caring families who give proper
care and the dog is part of the family, learning loyalty and companionship
    just like any other breed.

We have little ones come and swim... play with the pits
    they are incredible dogs.

It is not the dog it is the owner...
it is people who suck.... not mans best friend.

This dog was roaming... probably lived life on a leash :(
never being loved or learning to love and trust a human either.

This is a tragedy for both victims.... child and dog.

Do not ban the breed ...
ban the disgusting owners, poor excuse for human beings they are!
  • I agree with Pandora, my sister had one she rescued from the pound. Molly was her name, she was the sweetest friendliest dog.

  • I couldnt agree more,i cant imagine what that poor family is going through !

If that was my one year old son i dont no what i'd do !

how many more attacks need to happen before something is done !
  • I was at the beach a few years ago, there was a man walking his pitbull and a couple walked by with a little dog, both were on leashes. Out of nowhere the pitbull grabs this dog, he was standing there with it in his mouth. The owner was yelling at his dog to let go and nothing. By the end of it there was about 5 men kicking the pitbull trying to get it to let go. Eventually it did. The owners of the little dog scooped it up and ran, I don't know what happened to it. The pitbull owner was in tears and I am sure he never thought his dog would attack like that. But, I will never trust them now. It was sad enough that this happened to a dog, but it could have easily been a small child.
  • Pitbulls can be great dogs... But they need the proper owner, and the proper breeders.

When I become Supreme Commander of the United States of Jason P, certain aggressive dog breeds, such as Pitbulls, will require a permit and background check before you can own one. Possessing one without a permit will result in a mandatory 15 day jail sentence ... possibly a mild caning in the town square for the first few offenders to set an example ... 8-)

I wish it wouldn't have to come down to it, but stupid people have ruined it for everybody.

why are you singling out one breed? it's the owners who train ANY breed to be vicious and mean. these are beautiful, loving and loyal dogs. i used to be terrified of any dog and then i got a pit bull puppy and it ended my fears. that dog was the greatest and highly intelligent. when i had my first son they would sleep on the sofa together. my oldest tortured her at times when he was 'playing' - when she had enough she just disappeared upstairs. you can't blame a breed for the irresponsibility of the owner.

I have never understood why a person would want to own a dog if there was even the slightest chance a person could be harmed.
Sure its up to the owners, and there are bad dogs of every breed, but do you really want to put your faith in our society to properly raise and care for these dogs which certainly appear to be much more violent than other dogs when not raised or cared for properly?
    I dont.

Problem is, even if they were banned, it would be very difficult to enforce.

Banning would cause a breed to become extinct ...

I'd rather have the ignorant, heartless, pieces of crap dog owners extinct....
    there's no hope for them.

    Dogs are trainable....
with a need to please in every breed.

someones owns a dog like that should be not allowed to walk the dog in public..love dogs, have one,not pittbull.but still, must be a way for people get the protection they deserve..must be laws for someone can get this type of dogs...pittbulls are beautiful, great dogs, but can be very dangerous..so better not everyone can own one

pitbulls scare me. sure i've met a few that friend's have and they are mild and gentle; still, i am leery. their frickin jaw bone and muscle is massive and they are strong as shit. a good pit can climb straight up a tree and clamp onto a pair of jeans or rope and hang from said jeans or rope by its mouth, and remain hanging by its teeth for a long, long time.

now that is one fucked up deal.

a few have chased me when i was younger. they would have mangled me if they clamped on. i'd pop the bastards eyes out as the dog eats my face and arms. bad bad bad stuff.

i like squirrels and butterflies best. ever been attacked by butterflies? fuck no you haven't...

  • To those that say they are sweet, yes they can be but there is something inside them that ticks and can explode any minute, their instinct is to hunt and kill, I would never trust them.
And I can't believe the person who posted before allowed his little son to sleep with one, wtf

do you remember hearing the story about the dog that chewed off a baby's penis? true story and scary as hell. it wasn't a pitbull to my knowledge, but still, gotta be careful with dogs and babies. i do believe if i had a baby there would be zero dogs in my home until the young one got older.

cats too. fuck them. don't need a weirdo jealous cat fucking with my kid. and i dislike shedding ass animals like cats and stuff.

actually a wild ass wolf would be safer to have around a infant than some bullshit crazy ass dog.
wolves are family based and love each other, they respect young ones. true facts ladies and gentlemen.

I've always thought that these dogs can be used as weapons, and therefore the owner should need a license to have one.

Chihuahua and Cocker Spaniels are number one for bites

we had a Beagle who viciously bit my boys face when he was small.

Small children and all breeds must be carefully introduced and monitored.

I have slept with 2 pitbulls at the same time ;) they are great spooners :D

I would trust them to sleep with my child as much as any other breed
who had been properly acclimated to the family.

Trust goes both ways... human to dog... dog to human....
it is a partnership ... the best yet!
  • This belongs in AMT. Pit Bulls just get a bad rap b/c they're so commonly trained to fight. Like another poster said, with proper breeding and training and responsible ownership, they are some of the sweetest, most loyal dogs you can imagine. There's just a negative stigma around the breed that makes so many people fear the breed. ANY dog breed can attack...it's fucking instinct for Christ's sake. I've been around hundreds of dogs in my life and other than my neighbor's Great Dane who snapped at both me and my dad, I've been the most terrified of a friends COcker Spaniel...that bitch was CRAZY. Seriously, though...it's really sad that this breed gets the rap it does. Most unfamiliar with them will just generalize and assume they are all rotten animals when this cant be the furthest from the truth. Shame on anyone who makes these blind judgements. Ok, rant over.

    +1.
And I've had my feet eaten up on numerous occasions when I was young by a pomeranian who only loved my mom. She would attack feet when anyone walked by.

Small/cute dogs a lot of times are more aggressive than bigger breeds. People tend to let things go a lot more with smaller dogs, and react quicker when larger dogs show signs of aggression.

My dogs compete in agility, probably will total 40 weekends this year.

There are very few pitbulls, the one I know best is a wonderful dog whose owner keeps him safe. (this sport us entirely off leash)

I've been involved in three serious incidents myself, was bitten in the face and leg by a Newfoundland, in the leg by a Labrador. My Lab was bitten 7 times in an attack by a Rottweiler.

When I was an Emergency Department nurse, the worst attack I ever saw was a Springer Spaniel on her owner's fiancée... a week before their wedding.

When I was on the burn/reconstruction unit. I took care of an elderly msn who was mauled by his grandson's pit.

It's not the dog, its the owners. Having custody of a dog means you have a lifelong commitment to assure that dog is safe, to itself and to others. Some people dont realize that.
