Bachmann: I'll get gas under $2
By: Dan Berman and Molly Ball
August 17, 2011 11:57 AM EDT

Americans will save at the pump if Michele Bachmann is elected president, the Minnesota Republican said Tuesday.

“The day that the president became president gasoline was $1.79 a gallon. Look at what it is today,” she said at an event in Greenville, S.C.. “Under President Bachmann, you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.”

The average price for a gallon of gasoline is currently $3.58 per gallon, according to AAA.

Bachmann didn’t detail how she would cut the price of gasoline, which is tied to the global price of oil. She briefly mentioned the prospect of oil shale development in Western states and has been an active proponent of increased domestic oil drilling, including in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I still think Herman Cain should consider promising free pizza for a month if elected.

If I were running a campaign for one of Bachmann's opponents... my campaign strategy would be, 'Let her speak'.

this is a great campaign strategy i think ...

let's face it ... anything that resembles tax cuts or money into the pockets of americans is gonna go over well amonst that electoral base ... despite the fact tax cuts and the like have done nothing for society as a whole ... it works every time with voters ...

she will probably release all of the strategic reserves and it will lower the price until that runs out, then it will skyrocket after that.

Why is it absurd to say she can get gas down to $2? You ever think the gas prices now are absurd and inflated? In a matter of a year or two the gas prices more than DOUBLE and that is not absurd? Didn't gas get to $4 under Bush and then slide down below $2? At least she is giving specifics instead of just chanting Hope! Change! Hope! Change! Health care lobby instead of job creation! Hope! Change!

We are letting other countries drill our off shore oil. There are large reserves in this country that we are not allowed to tap.

specifics? How would she reduce it to under $2?

Most of Amercia (~gulp~, i hope) would not fall for that.

Amazing to me how getting healthcare fo all citizens is a bad idea, but filling up your hummer for half the cost rocks!!!!

Because the new health care bill is killing job growth and is not economically feasible in the long run. Americans fell for Obama's non-specifics Change speeches.

I just don't think it is as crazy to say that you are going to get gas down to the price it was a couple years ago.

I just want to see how she'll be able to do it.

And Canada has Universal health care, and far less debt per person than the United States, as well as lower unemployment. Food for thought.

The party of no wouldn't let the healtcare bill he/we wanted to pass.

back to the question though. What are her specifics you speak of?

    "TAX CUTS!!"

that is the answer to everything now, silly.

just like for 7 years "9/11" and "war on turr" were the 2 answers to everything.

but seriously, tax cuts seems to be their answer for everything, even in situations where the issue of taxes does not apply...

Hey man.... my phone don't got no spell check...

Yes that was a double negative :)

However you spell it, Bachmann is still delusional...

Oh, and you forgot a comma in your sentence.

Being delusional has nothing to do with intelligence either... I think Bachmann is intelligent... just crazy, that's all.
