Michele Bachmann wishes Elvis happy birthday on anniversary of his death

Republican US presidential candidate Michele Bachmann offered a "happy birthday" message to the late singer Elvis Presley even though 16 August is the anniversary of his death.

Bachmann shouted "Happy Birthday, Elvis!" from the stage at a campaign stop at the Beacon Drive In, a South Carolina restaurant famous for its fried food and sweet tea.

After her stump speech on Monday, the US congresswoman from Minnesota told a group of reporters that she was happy to be in South Carolina "on the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death".

"He's still alive. He's alive in our hearts," Bachmann said.

Presley was born on 8 January 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He died on 16 August 1977 in Memphis, Tennessee.

    Who cares about this? It's like no one on this website ever make a slip up.

    Well, some of the other slip ups are much bigger, but a slip up about Elvis? really? This is what we care about when electing someone? Maybe why we have the mess we have.

    I understand what your saying but she is loaded with them. This is not her first one. Not only that but false claims with no facts and full of hate. So yes she needs to be called out on everything because she has no problem calling others out. And also it's funny as shit and i enjoy it. To me that's important.

    Although I do roll my eyes when people over-do the whole reaction to a public speaker screwing up a fact or two (the famous Obama comment where he talks about how many stops he's made and how many he has left and seems to suggest there are 60 states is one for the books) but this is the same person who said she was proud to be in the town of John Wayne when she was actually in the town of John Wayne Gacy.

    When you just look up some trivia and your blackberry at the last minute so you can say something cute, you're going to get called on it.
