That was a really good piece. Thanks for sharing. This quote stood out to me:

"And to those who argue that higher rates hurt job creation, I would note that a net of nearly 40 million jobs were added between 1980 and 2000. You know what’s happened since then: lower tax rates and far lower job creation."

it's all well written, common sense and true so it will be ignored.

I can agree with lots of what he is saying. It's just that wasn't Obama targeting the "rich"...that he deemed to be $250,000. Quite a difference in scale there no?

Tax rates were lowered by Reagan too...so that did or didn't work?

And lower tax rates is the ONLY thing that has happened since then...

My favorite is that someone who uses the tax loopholes he talks about negatively instead of taking a salary also complains he doesn't pay enough in taxes. Start a trend Warren, pay more...no one will stop you.

This is good stuff. There was another interesting Op-ed in the Times last week trying to get other wealthy Americans, aside from Buffett to come out and say this. I can't recall the columnist but he had specific people in mind that he knew supported revenue increases, but have stayed silent.

This is correct. Obama's rich was not based in reality. It was RICHER. But, by no means rich.

Also, what stops the super rich from paying the taxes they want to? Why doesn't Buffet and his cronies just pay the billion in taxes and stop pontificating about it. You don't need a law to do that. Maybe, I missed that part. I did just quickly skim it. But, if it's like the articles like this from the super rich that come out from time to time it basically says - we'd do it, but I'm not doing it unless my other super rich friends do it, and since they won't I'll try to shame them into doing it.

So, that's why it should be ignored. Put your money where your mouth is so we can stop hearing you spout out your blowhole.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
