Thanks Ten Club members! Since I started lurking this site (circa 2002-2003/not a member yet), I have read about and sometimes listened to new (not only chronologically but for me too) artists/bands of many different music genres due to your posts/recommendations. I am really grateful to you who introduced me to Allison Crowe, Anna Ternheim, Natalie Merchant and The Avett Brothers. Amazing music acts in my humble opinion. Which new artists/bands did you start listening to due to Ten Club?

I second this. With all the chit chat about so many different bands, it's hard to think of a band that I didn't at least get a mention around here before I took the plunge into their respective tunes.

Hell it's the best all around music website, for me anyway. I find out all the latest news about all my favorite bands, and there's always current live reviews. I can find out the answer to just about ANY(!!!!!) guitar related question in a matter of hours, usually minutes.

I stopped listening to the radio about 2 years ago, I'd say. If it wasn't for the great suggestions on this site, I would be lost

I'll second this as well. I've learned of many new bands from a lot of posters on this website. Like Dewie said, I not only get suggestions for bands I've never heard of, or maybe bands I've heard nods from just hadn't got around to listening to yet, but I also get a lot of my music and general news from this website. This is easily my favorite site to visit.

Only this week, I tried The Sheepdogs as a result of a couple of mentions in the 'best bands' thread. I liked them a lot, and plan to listen to more. Wish they had an album that was affordable in the US...but $30 is just too much.

I also started listening to The National as a result of comments on this board....I think that was a couple of months ago.

The great thing about this board is that you know that everyone here loves Pearl Jam...and with that as a base there are the possibilities of more common interests when it comes to music. Not only because of Pearl Jam's music itself...but also because of the attitude of independent thought: this is not a board where you see people rushing from one Top 40 act to the next, losing interest in them as soon as The Next Big Thing comes along. This is a board where people really stop to evaluate what they are hearing and make decisions for themselves - not based on what some DJ or record company official tells them to like.

Not all of us will like the same things. But at least we have PJ and the lessons we've learned from being PJ fans in common!

Yeah this is one of the boards i look to for opinions on bands. A lot of folks get trapped talking about their fav 90's bands but there are plenty of people on here who talk about more "now adays stuff" which is often.

Amen to this!! Definitely have been tipped off to some great new music because of the boards! Also, sometimes I'll just browse around the 'What are you listening to at this very moment' thread-- great way to find some new stuff and rediscover some songs I may not have listened to in awhile!
