Especially the ones living in London. Can you please tell me where can I buy cheap vinyls second-hand and new? I'm searching for some Rock, Reggae, Jazz and Punk vinyls. I'm staying in Uxbridge (West London). Thank you in advance!

Since no one from the UK posted anything I'll throw this out there. I spent about a month in England when I was in college. I remember a cool part of the city was known as Camden Town. As I remember there were a bunch of cool record shops and other cool stores. The area always had that "concert/festival" feel while walking the streets.

Hmmm, I wonder how many shops like this survived Wankerfest 2011?

The Music and Video Exchange at Notting Hill Gate is a second hand specialist. Cheap vinyls galore.

Staying around there, there's also Rough Trade West and a few other small indies around Portobello Road.

Sister Ray on Berwick Street in Soho and Rough Trade East, off Brick Lane in Spitalfields both have bucketloads of new vinyls, not as cheap as the second hand stuff obviously.

The various Camden markets and the back end of Portobello Road Saturday market will have some vinyl stalls.

But if you wanna flip through 2nd hand stuff, just head straight to MVE.

Directions? Do some research on Google or TFL.gov.uk!

Electric Ballroom in Camden holds a market on Sundays, but that's been trashed and I doubt it'd be on.

Thanks guys! I've been to Camden (3 times) and Electric Ballroom (2 times - saw Mudhoney & The Twilight Singers there) before. I'm a postgraduate student in London, so Camden is a place to be for a foreign student in London as well as Brick Lane (I have been there once or twice - 1001 for hot dogs and beers and Big Chill for beers again :) ) and Soho (never been there before - I intend to go there before leaving town). My master ends on September 9th so I'm leaving London for good. It's been a wonderful year (September 2010 - September 2011) with lots of concerts (Mudhoney, Black Keys, The National, Fistful Of Mercy, Gogol Bordello, Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, The Twilight Singers, The Avett Brothers, Madeleine Peyroux, Esperanza Spalding, Rain Dogs Revisited & Liam Finn in that order :D )! I am aware of the Camden's open-markets but I was hoping for something more specific like Hinn's recommendations. I didn't know that about Electric Ballroom! :o I may try my luck with it. Tfl.gov.uk  One of the first addresses I memorized when I first came in London! Nice times! :P That was months ago! Already! :x Time indeed flies! :)

P.S: My oldest brother used to be an undergraduate student in Preston (1996-1999) and he told me that he used to buy second-hand vinyls for 0.50 - 1 pound! He bought Tom Waits' Frank's Wild Years for 1 pound back then! :o Actually, the vinyls are going to be his gift! ;):D

Vinyls: hard to pack, heavy to carry.

I'm going to pack them in a schoolbag. I've done this before (when I flew back to Greece for Easter vacations). In fact, I carried 2 LPs (The Black Keys - Brothers) and I managed to deliver them (they were a gift) without a scratch. I'm planning to buy more or less 5 vinyls.

Finally, I bought 3 vinyls : 1) Nirvana - Nevermind (red vinyl :D - copy) for 12 pounds, 2) Bob Marley & The Wailers - Kaya (copy) for 8 pounds both from Electric Ballroom's second - hand market and 3) Johnny Cash - Hymns By Johnny Cash (produced :o:D ) for 3 pounds from Camden Town's open market. Thanks for your invaluable advice Hinn!

P.S: All of them arrived safe and sound in their destination! :D
