Listening to this today made me get on a real Cold Roses kick. I listened to the album while driving home, while at the grocery store, while doing the dishes after dinner. That album is greatness from him & The Cardinals, start to finish.

Has anyone ever heard his Pinkhearts collection of songs? I had no idea it existed until exploring some Ryan Adams boards and am now listening to Pinkhearts Vol.2 on Grooveshark.com
The song "Blue and Shy" is great, and is the closest thing Ryan has done to a Replacements song. Good stuff!

this is the only CD i have with me on my trip and i am so thankful for its companionship. i bought it in NYC and then had to go buy a discman to play it on. anyone who says DRA is over rated has no clue what theyre talking about.
i saw him in seattle last friday. i couldntve asked for a btter gig... seriously. he played 16 days!!!
chains of love is still my fave.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
Where should one start with Ryan Adams... Don't know why I never get into him...
i started with GOLD and then very quickly acquired all i could. whatever yuo do DO NOT bypass whiskeytown.
i suggest(only cause this is what i did) starting with GOLD then moving onto heartbreaker and love is hell.. where you go from there is up to you... maybe grab then ashes and fire and start filling the in between.

Often overlooked is his "Demolition" album. I started with "Gold," but that was before "Demolition" was released. I think it would make a great starter album because it's culled from several different sessions, so it has a nice balance of DRA the hard rocker, DRA the quiet folkie & DRA the country rocker.

Anybody who's ever missed Ryan Adams' producing work on this record, end it now! It's a Willie Nelson album, called "Songbird"... Adams and The Cardinals play Nelson's backing band and they do a superb cover of "Stella Blue" by the Dead and Ryan's own "Blue Hotel"
It is a beautiful record:

Goodnight Rose just came on for me. I have one last Ryan Adams thought for the day, this is a good one:
I started a thread back in 2007 as a tribute to my sister and it started out describing she had passed away. I asked everyone to play a tune for her. blackredyellow, a familiar face on this board posted the following post:
I just hit play on my iTunes to find something to play and this was the first song that started on shuffle:
Goodnight Rose
by: Ryan Adams
Goodnight Rose, we're going to win
Put your troubles behind you and go on to bed
Let go of the world, there's so much nobody understands
Don't live your life in such a hurry, life goes by us so so fast
And the sun will come up again, and I will be here,
If you get scared just hold my hand
Tomorrow is yours, and who knows, maybe we'll win
Don't you think?
Goodnight Rose, goodnight, goodnight Rose
Good morning sunshine, a new day begins
And the hustle and bustle of the traffic reach you kindly
I can tell that because I can see you smiling
So go on, give 'em everything you know the winning demands
Just one more ribbon, Rose, before the mantle place caves in
And the sun will come up again, and I will be here
Rose, if you get scared, just hold my hand
Get out of that dress, go on to bed
The bar is closed ...
Goodnight Rose
Goodnight, goodnight Rose
Goodnight Rose
Goodnight, goodnight Rose
This post was the entire reason I discovered Ryan Adams. This song is now a very near and dear song to me. Thanks blackredyellow.

Bought my tickets today to see him in Perth, Western Australia, in February. It's going to be a long few months waiting.
At 53 I have got a feeling of excitement looking forward to a concert that I haven't had for many a long year. When I messaged my wife to say that I had bought the tickets she replied that she still didn't know who the f*** he was but she guessed that she was going to find out.
Now I'm livin' out here on the beach,
but those seagulls are still out of reach.

Good call on that Willie Nelson album...they also managed to completely reinvent my least-favorite track on Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours"...and turned it into my favorite track on this album (the title track).

The title track is great, but I didn't know it was a Fleetwood cover, nice bit of info there.
I've had this album for about 3 years, but have kind of overlooked it for the longest time until about two days ago. I was walking my dog and listened to a good chunk of it, thought "Damn, this is good!" and finished it when I got home. Now it's been playing regularly since then.

Yep...on Rumours, it was a quiet, introspective solo piece on piano by Christine McVie...like I said, Willie & Ryan completely reinvented it.

It was $92.50 and our dollar is worth more than $US at the moment, but got seats in Row E. It's the price you have to pay for culture when you live on the other side of the globe.

Consider myself SUPER fortunate to have gotten into this tonight. My parents dealer go figure (who for years I called Uncle Mike...not knowing why he was family) apparently has a good customer in the way of an awesome guy who works security for the Letterman show. Was going to save the ask for whenever Pearl Jam did this gig but couldn't resist RA.
Showed up an hour or so early and my contact put me right at the head of the line. Almost felt guilty...people had been waiting for quite some time. Ended up 2nd row center. Knew the show wouldnt last for more than 60-70 mins but still fantastic. Sound quality in the Ed Sullivan theater is way better than I imagined. Enjoyed many of the new cuts and Jax skyline was fantastic. Ryan seemed to really enjoy the venue if not for the cameramen getting about 4 inches from his face. Thought some of his chatter was downright hysterical..next time Dave can intervie him eh? Kudos to Letterman staff who couldnt have been more laid back or firendly...pictures/phones/video everything was fair game inside.
Of the number of shows I've dragged my girlfriend to over 2 years this was up there in the top 3 of ones she enjoyed. I suppose RA does that to the ladies...really memorable night. Maybe better than if I had gotten into Carnegie tomorrow ne way.
