The Tea Party is a giant Ponzi scheme. At the top of the pyramid are folks like the Koch brothers, who stand to benefit the most from the scheme. And at the bottom are the poor schlubs just looking for a way to get rich quick. They're the ones that end up getting screwed.

Well of course.
It's been their strategy from the early 2000s.
George W Bush wouldn't have won the 2004 election on his handling of anything... war, economy, taxes, reading level, 911... so they got as many anti-gay votes on as many ballots in as many close states as they could... fired up lots of "the gays are coming to get you" paranoia and squeaked by.
And the taxes kept getting lower for the richest people. And the spending went up. And Up. And Up.0 -

Social Security is not a Ponzi scheme. Makes me sick they've been able to convince some people that it is.
And in case you didn't get this... Social Security isn't there for rich people and to screw the poor people. It's to keep our senior citizens from starving to death in the streets, to care for our elderly.0 -

Why is it that something like 50 percent of those who associate themselves with the Tea Party are benefiting from one form of social welfare or another? They say their taxes are too high. So are mine. But those very same taxes are what help fund the very programs they benefit from. And the reddest of red states benefit most from federal aid. So, I guess my question is "Can we have our money back, please"
It's like the Tea Party are holding their pitchforks upside down and have managed to set themselves on fire with their torches.Rock me Jesus, roll me Lord...

It's not. But the majority of the tea people don't actually know what a Ponzi Scheme is. They just know it was "stealing money from people to give it to a jewish family." So call social security a Ponzi Scheme... people who will starve to death in a homeless shelter will vote to end it... all to protect the billionaires from having to pay an extra .5% in taxes.0 -

I don't ever... ever listen to rush.. I'm not a partisan person who needs to "learn" my thoughts.
I don't feel like typing out a complete answer to this, but this article does a great job of describing why social security is the biggest ponzi scheme of all time:

As Republicans and conservatives have scrambled to rally the support of the Tea Party movement, many have failed to take notice of some of the important inconsistencies implicit in the Tea Party message. A recent New York Times/CBS poll reveals some interesting information about the movement and its fundamental “principles.”
According to this poll, 91% of Tea Partiers want a smaller government with fewer services. Despite this hostility to big government, 62% of Tea Partiers believe that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are worth the cost (apparently no one bothered to tell them that Social Security and Medicare are evil Godless socialist programs). This would suggest that in order to achieve fiscal sanity the Tea Party believes that spending cuts are to be implemented elsewhere within the vast expenditures of the federal apparatus. However when one examines their beliefs on paying down the debt, the result is somewhat troubling. When asked whether they preferred deficit reduction or tax cuts, 49% of Tea Partiers said they would favor tax reduction while 42% would prefer deficit reduction.Rock me Jesus, roll me Lord...

You really like the atlanta journal constitution (blog in this case), huh? That seems like a smart-person's paper! You don't even turn to the typical smart persons: FT, WSJ, or NYTimes... you go AJC. ha ha.Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

here is a good definition of it.
Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to separate investors, not from any actual profit earned by the organization, but from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors. The Ponzi scheme usually entices new investors by offering returns other investments cannot guarantee, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent. The perpetuation of the returns that a Ponzi scheme advertises and pays requires an ever-increasing flow of money from investors to keep the scheme going.
social security is NOT a ponzi scheme. nobody gets blatantly ripped of with criminal intentions. everyone that works pays into it and they all get the benefits if they live long enough. if people have enough money they don't need it. it is not designed for the rich people, rather to keep the poor, the invalids, the elderly from starving to death or dying alone from easily treated maladies. unfortunately some people don't live that long, and also there are people who are disabled and unable to work or to pay into it. but they paid into it until they became disabled. social security would be solvent forever if they would stop borrowing from it."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
