Wisconsin Flash Mobs

Thought about mentioning this in the London thread, but didn't want to derail a thread that was on what seems to be a much bigger event. That said, I'm surprised no one is talking about the Wisconsin state fair so-called "flash mob" occurrence.

Does anyone know what "really" happened? The only news links google provided for me were from news sites that are completely unknown to me. The articles mostly consisted of interviews of white people saying that blacks were attacking whites...and some interviews of blacks saying that it was just random violence from thugs. Curious to know if there are any Wisconsiners (Wisconsonians?) on here that might provide some first-person insight.

But it's not quite the same. The Chicago mobs were quick robberies perpetrated by smaller groups on isolated individuals. The little reporting I was able to find on the Wisconsin event made it sound more like a violent riot just for the sake of being violent.

kids need a beat down

there were reports of hundreds of kids romaing around the outside of lallo over the weekend looking for places to crash the party.

when interviews, one kid said, it's about being part of a mob and not the music.

if was about the music, at least you could defend them with a refrence to the 60's and wood stock. but nope. it's all about being a complete douche now a days.

Leaving 20 years ago and our family still feeling connected to Wisconsin,
we were shocked and very sadden.

This surely not the state fair that holds many wonderful memories for over 35 years.
My son took it particularly hard. He sent me the article. He remembers the fair...
we lived just blocks from.

It is frightening the hate. We can't meet hate with hate though that just breeds more.

I didn't mention it because we have people from all over the world converging for PJ 20.

I didn't want them to feel threatened before they arrived
nor have a black mark on a beautiful state filled with great friendly people.

I didn't know Chicago was experiencing something similar.
I'm sorry for all the citizens affected.

I guess we can expect more of this with the state of our world.

It's happened in other cities, but the one in Wisconsin seems to have involved more people than the other places. I guess the fact that it was a state fair that was supposed to be a fun place to take your family makes it even more of a story on top of the amount of people doing the attacking. It's happened in Philadelphia, too, and the mayor has imposed a curfew for teens to try to keep it from happening again.

From what I've heard, there were definitely people in the mob specifically targeting white people. Some witnesses said that attackers in the parking lot passed by black families to get to white families. That doesn't necessarily mean that every single member of that mob was only looking to attack white people, but it seems to have been the case that most of them were. Officials in Philadelphia and Wisconsin are looking into whether the people arrested so far can be charged with hate crimes, but they say it will be difficult to prove unless there are victims or witnesses who saw or heard evidence that it was racially-motivated. The mayor of Philadelphia (who is black) spoke at his church Sunday and told the congregation, "You have damaged your own race."

All in all, this is stupid, juvenile shit being carried out by people old enough to know better.

Yes, it's been happening in Center City Philadelphia for a few weeks now (and actually, a few years now), so much so that I make sure I'm out of the city by 7:00 at the latest. No hanging around shopping or anything like that.

It totally sucks, to be concerned about walking around on a beautiful night, afraid that a bunch of punks are going to attack you purely for the fun of it. It makes me sick.
