Tuning Tenor Uke

Hey guys - I just picked up my new tenor uke. I just want to be sure I am doing this correctly.
Is a tenor uke tuned to the same pitch as a soprano uke, or is it an octave lower?

It seems like getting the C string to middle string on the piano, and the other strings, is causing some pretty high tension on the strings. Because of the larger size is it tuned an octave lower? Everything I read online implies middle C for the 3rd string but I want to be sure I don't tweak this thing...

soprano, concert, tenor all tuned the same way, same octave - GCEA. baritone is strung a bit different

'C' is middle C. unless you have a 'low G' tenor (which i would guess you don't), C will be your bass string, lowest note.

either get yourself a pitchpipe and tune by ear, or a chromatic tuner that clamps to your headstock for a more exact tune.

new strings need constant tuning until stretched, kinda like a bike chain.

Thanks. Finally got them stretched and staying in tune and it sounds awesome. I've pounded on my wee soprano for so long it's nice to have something bigger.

I've just recently upgraded to a beautiful mahogany tenor. What a difference to play and a lovely sound too. Aquila strings are reccommended for uke players and they do sound much better. Nice to see the instrument gaining in popularity...
