See Me

Tonight I stumbled upon a sea
A sea unlike any sea I've ever seen
I could stumble upon a sea of seas and never again see a sea such as thee
This sea was dry of motivation, filled with salting deprivation
Whose waters deviate blood from vein, against its current, pull and pain
This sea I see...
This sea is me
This sea is vast, wide and open
This see is deep, dark and broken
Deep enough to drown the surplus, dark enough to hide a purpose
Broken waves upon the surface set truth to lies, failed and worthless
I look at this sea, this reflection of me, and think
"How polluted can this sea be?"
And can this sea, this sea of seas, whose reflection casts an image of me...
Can this sea see me?
So I asked this hell, with an indignant yell
"Oh sea of seas, whose reflection of me I see in thee... how bad can it be?"
And as expected, my sea’s response is drowned by the crashing sound
Of the waves who so thrive to be as I
I cover my face with my hands as I fall in the sand, with my back to the sea who has stagnated me.
As splashes of hope fell from liquid disguise, I felt my foe of a sea swell behind me.
I turned to see this sea of seas whose reflection casts of me, and to my surprise my sea did rise
And with a dignified swell, my sea did yell:
"If you are he whose reflection of thee you see in me, and ask yourself 'how bad can it be?'"
Heed these words and be set free:
This night you came in search of answers, and for that I may not serve you well, for I am vast, wide and open.
And if you search for something new, I cannot offer, for I am deep, dark and broken.
But if you search for something brighter, I may offer still, for even though I'm deep and dark, vast and wide, and broken open, When these nights are through, and as I rise to be,
The sun will surely rise as well, in perfect sight of me.
