Good Morning, Neighbor

A blasted dream of deprivation
brought to me by some lost citizen;
I've had my troubles but can rest assured
that my tale is nothing quite like hers.
Good morning, neighbor
I had a dream today
I dreamt of a sky of black,
With daggers falling into the back of a lost citizen
Of a world that promised her protection,
But did so through the eyes of immortality
She begged for a way to communicate to the others,
But all she could create were tears
She had bags of doubt, filled with years of regret
She had clothes that reeked of broken promises, and
And a face that resembled her perpetual struggle
Her voice was Novocain, her eyes were colored pain
She could smell the night, and feel its disdain
She could hear humanity on the other side of what she was
She tasted the bitter blood that ran through her empty lips
A call to a home where she would be uninvited was a catastrophe; "a blasphemy to shatter a life"
Meteors crash through glass-blown mysteries, revealing bound, beaten, blood-woven histories
A plague blooms in a street shelter
A soul breaks, a heart melts
A smile fades and a wind's felt like the mocking lash of a whipping belt
A death comes but a body stands
Where a woman was,where a girl ran,
Where a hope was lost, where a journey began,
Where a fear was fought, where a tear would land
And I?
I could watch
I could wait
I could do nothing but offer her solace through a glance
Departure was as inevitable as the variables that bound her to her equation
She wanted to wake from the sinister affliction
But the show must go on
Onward to the next hand to reach
The next glance of solace
She'll find her place, but for this night she must wander.
Good neighbor, today I had a dream.
