Do you think it's a step in the right direction? Definitely a controversial issue, but I agree with the plan completely.

It makes sense to me. Alcohol-- a drug which has literally killed people I've known and been close to-- is legal , socially acceptable and taxed. Pot, which has never killed anyone I've known (or anyone else as far I as know) is illegal, still somewhat taboo and not taxed. I've always thought it very irrational that alcohol is perfectly acceptable and legal and pot isn't. That makes no sense to me.

    I love this: http://youtu.be/mcYiMtHO_Ls

When it comes to legalizing it though, I'm concerned about how the government would regulate it and tax it. If all weed had to be government-approved, would that include all strains? There could be a whole set of crazy regulations for weed growers, and for those who would sell it as well. Theoretically, if you take it off the black market, the price should go down. With the added taxes, it might equal black market prices. But who knows? I think the California ballot proposition said it would be taxed at $50 an ounce. That seems steep, but if the price of an ounce goes down to $50, even if you tax it at 100%, it's now cheap. It could be that only low-grade weed would be available, which is cheap anyway.

The thing is, it's so easy to grow. People can just grow it on their own for themselves. Are we going to still bust these people?

Personally, I think it should be illegal to sell it, but it should not be illegal to grow it or to use it or to give it away. Children shouldn't use it, but I know hundreds of potheads and not one of them would let their kids smoke it anyway. Pot dealers on the street are far more likely to sell to kids than for a parent to give it to their kids. Take profit away from pot. It's a gift from the divine.

I've been told thumbs are considered a delicacy-- --though I can't say from experience!
