They are a band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I had heard them on the radio recently in my hometown, Winnipeg. They are scheduled to be one of the openers on Rock On The Range, and also opening for Kings Of Leon here in October. I really dug their song "I Don't Know". Sounds very 70's rock. Checked them out. Found out about this Rolling Stone cover contest. Turns out a week later, they won the damn thing.

Check em out. They're really good.

At first I found it funny that you were informing us about a band on the COVER of rolling stone, like thanks fro breaking the news! But you didnt know. They are pretty much the buzz band of the summer methinks, since this whole Get On The Cover contest, at least in Canada anyways. They are on the news a lot, hell even my dad has heard them. I like the tunes, very old throwback sounding. The learn & burn guitar solo is so santana. Its refreshing, but original sounding? No. I like the medley on the album, and I dont get by. Its good stuff.

the issue hadn't yet hit stands when I started this thread, either. Since there was no thread on them, I thought there were probably other folks that hadn't heard of them. And a lot of music fans my age (mid 30's) no longer pay attention to RS magazine or mainstream rock radio except when changing the Pearl Jam cd on the car.

Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney is producing the new Atlantic Records album by the Sheepdogs, winners of Rolling Stone's recent Choose the Cover contest. The as-yet-untitled album will be co-produced by Rolling Stone contributing editor Austin Scaggs with mixing by Tchad Blake and is tentatively scheduled for a late spring release.

"We're recording live in the same room with no headphones," reports Sheepdogs frontman Ewan Currie. "Pat's got great ideas and we all seem to be on the same level." That would make sense – Carney's band is on our current cover.

Was fortunate enough to take in a live show at the Calgary Stampede tonight. Stood front row center and watched them rock! Amazing live band, love their harmonies. They are a staple on the ipod playlist rotation, Canadian music rocks!

Coming to a Canadian city near you...bought tickets yesterday to see them play in Calgary. Good thing time passes quickly, the show isn't until December. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new album...ordered it weeks ago...shipping seems to take as long as 10C ;)

You might want to contact them. I ordered the Deluxe bundle (VInyl, shirt, etc...) and the regular CD and both came on the day after the release date. I've had mine for about two weeks now.
  • I was experimenting with multiple cameras at live shows a while back,

    The Sheepdogs got the treatment....

Love surprise mail deliveries on Sundays! Now I am enjoying listening to a new vinyl on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Was very surprised to open it up and find a coloured slab of wax! Just a bit of marbling to it...but mostly yellow! It also came with a CD for the car, was not expecting that either.

I need to pick it up on vinyl too. Such a great album.
