I think it's a bit of a stretch for anyone to come on a message board and claim that she's "too self-absorbed". Seriously...unless you actually know her on a personal level, put your righteousness aside.
My righteousness. Jesus Christ. I just don't see these pictures I guess the way I'm supposed to. I just know if my daughter presented herself like this, needlessly sullen and treating her body like it's something to be gawked at, I'd be dissapointed. I don't mean to be mean to the kid. I wish her well.
wow. this post seems pretty outrageous and ignorant. "needlessly sullen"? do you know anything about Frances' parents and childhood. Who her father was? And who her mother is? I was most struck by the "art is the solution to chaos" tattoo on her back. i agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly, and i dont think she got that tattoo on the spur of the moment because it "looked cool" or because she felt the french language was trendy. I think it speaks to how she was able to deal with the horrors of her childhood and the painful experiences of her life. Ive read most of the interviews she's done over the years, and Frances seems extremely intelligent, very creative and talented and has a great head on her shoulders. Just a typical kid in many respects, despite her past
OK, this will be my last word on the subject. I hope.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic about asking me if I know who her parents are, but in case you are not, and if there's anyone who might be wondering, yes I do know very well who her parents are. I've been a fan of Nirvana since the day Nevermind took over Suburbia. I can name any Nirvana song by just a few notes or a few drum beats. I remember how badass they were on MTV appearances. I loved how they ridiculed their own celebrity and the music industry as it was. Kurt was especially funny. If he were still here, not only would he still be making kickass music, but he'd be ripping on everything that's even more bogus about the industry today. I don't dare speculate on what would have happened to Frances Bean if Kurt hadn't died, but I doubt Kurt and Courtney would still be together. I was kinda a fan of Courtney's at first but her act wore thin. Her band was pretty damn good, but she destroyed it.
You know what? I probably was being too judgmental about Frances, but I still don't like the tattoos... I'm not saying she didn't put thought into them, but it's too much ink. But as far as saying she's too self-absorbed, maybe I went too far, because given the way teens are today, she actually seems less narcissistic than the average. I'm sure she's got some of her dad's wit. I'm pretty sure I've already given her too much attention, just because of who her parents are. Her dad had to earn it. She's going to get it whether she wants it or not... I guess she figures she needs to be worthy of the attention.
OK, this will be my last word on the subject. I hope.

i was responding to your comment that Frances was needlessly sullen. I found that silly given her childhood and her life. I was indeed being sarcastic. I just viewed and view your comments as being ignorant. I think had Frances gotten addicted to drugs and was caught drinking, and was acting up, i dont think anyone would question why, i think that is almost expected. The fact is, Frances is 18, and hasnt gone down the path and road of britney or lindsay. She has never been photographed at a party or doing drugs. She's never been photohraphed drinking. Never been photographed acting immature and outrageous. There has never even been reports of such activity. Ive tried to keep tabs with her, as i was and remain a huge fan of Kurt. And Frances is indeed an artist, talented and is incredibly smart and well put together given the cards she was dealt. I chalk that up to both her own intelligence and moral compass and the people who have made impressions on her. Its not just a coincidence that Michael Stipe and Drew Barrymore are her godparents, its clear both have made huge impressions on her. I also think Kurts mom and his surviving family have really guided Frances.
To portray Frances as a media and fame hungry celebrity who yearns for money and fame and attention i think is both certifiably insane and untrue. Its not demonstrated in any of the interviews with Frances or her actions. I fail to see how doing photo shoots suggests anything other than a love of fashion and art.
I dont think you have any right to call her self absorbed. Again, there is no evidence to back that erroneous belief up, that she's self absorbed, in fact theirs only evidence to suggest the opposite.
I dont think she wants fame really. She did an art exhibit, she recorded a song, where she was featured minimally on Evelyn Evelyn's song with Amanda Palmer, and has done 5 interviews in 18 years, and several photo shoots. Hardly the actions of some attention starved narcissist.

Why would she have any talent?? Neither of her parents had any talent.
Our first jab at Kurt Cobain's talent! I can't believe it took 3 pages! I don't get how people don't think he was talented, you may think he was crazy, a drug addict, or whatever other personal flaw, but to say he has no talent is quite unfounded. If Kurt Cobain doesn't have talent than Eddie doesn't have any either.
And on topic, she looks a ton like her father. I am surprised they didn't try to make her pose like Kurt, I guess that would have been tacky.

I hope it's from diet and exercise and that she's not going down the same lifestyle choice of her parents.
Why would she have any talent?? Neither of her parents had any talent.
