Who went to go see them on this past July tour? I haven't heard or seen much, my bad if there have already been threads about this, I've been really busy lately and didn't see any.

How were the performances? Setlists, etc? I'm interested to hear how it was since I didn't have the chance to see them yet. Hopefully they tour more.

Thanks but I just sifted through the entire thread and there's nothing on there about the actual concerts, performances, setlists, etc. it's just people saying they got tickets and they are excited.
  • I did in LA! Best concert I ever have seen, barely edges out Pearl Jam in 2009 and Stone Temple Pilots in 2008.

There are discussions about all these shows at Soundgardenworld.com... but since you asked, this is what I posted there...

"Focking amazing show. I was dismayed by the lameness of the VIP tickets, but got a very good spot on Kim's side second from the rail. Crowd energy wasn't as high as I expected, and the show was nowhere near as loud as I'd heard, but the setlist was f'in phenomenal. I can't detail it exactly, but...

Gun. Hunted Down. Big Dumb Sex. Loud Love. Head Down. Mailman. Beyond the Wheel. 4th of July.
All that in addition to: Searching with my Good Eye Closed, Spoonman, Room a Thousand Years Wide, Jesus Christ Pose, The Day I Tried to Live, My Wave, Ugly Truth, Fell on Black Days, Rusty Cage, Black Rain, Burden in my Hand.

Oh, and did I mention Superunkown with Mike McCready on guitar? Maybe I forgot that... along with a few other songs. It doesn't matter, the show blew Lollapalooza out of the water, Chris and Matt were both on fire. Kim and Ben were... well, Kim and Ben. Ben even smiled a few times, and Kim seemed to be having some fun playing off-bits. Chris played a sh'load of guitar tonight.

    Thanks, guys."

The Forum show was absolutely one of the best shows I've ever seen. If you didn't see them yet on this tour, do yourself a favor and spend Halloween weekend in N'awlins for the Voodoo Festival. New Orleans is always a great time, and seeing Soundgarden and the Raconteurs and all the other acts will make for a great weekend. Plus, it's traditionally very easy to get into the VIP areas at Voodoo. :D
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.

Saw the show in LA also. I was blown away. It was my first time seeing Soundgarden proper after seeing Chris solo and with Audioslave several times.
Couldn't have asked for a better setlist if I had written it myself. Heard everything I wanted to hear like Loud Love, Fell on Black Days, 4th of July, Blow Up the Outside World....The icing on the cake was Mike playing with them on Superunknown. Great to see Matt right at home with SG. I've seen him with PJ but he's such a driving force with SG. So solid.
Great straight up no frills rock show. Also, it was loud. Very loud.

The vibe was just intense, most moshing/crowd surfing I've ever experienced at a show. Chris sounded perfect and there was great stage energy/chemistry from the band. Also Dave Grohl being right behind me didn't hurt at all.

The Pearl Jam show I saw at the Gibson Amphitheatre in LA in September 2009 and the STP show I saw at the Hollywood Bowl in June 2008 are my two other best concerts ever.

    Saw them at the Gorge.

Sorry I did not post right away as the show got over around 11:45, and I didn't get back to my room till 1am and just wanted to crash, then had to go to Spokane on Sunday, back to Seattle on Sunday, then back out to Montana on Wednesday.

Like another poster said, we got every song I would want to hear, Spoonman, Fell on Black Days, Head Down, Black Hole Sun, Jesus Christ Pose etc etc.

They did walk off stage at about 11...and then came back to do a 5 song encore. Chris did introduce everybody, thanked them, mentioned it had been about 15 years since they played the Gorge. Matt was pounding the drums did a solo with Ben. Then Ben did the feedback thing as everybody walked off, then he ended and walked off, and the stage lights came on...there were a lot of confused people still standing around.

The merch table was a clusterfuck when I got there, and I didn't see the Klausen Gorge poster, and the merch guy sold me the tour poster  ...didn't find out it was the wrong one till I got home Sunday night. Thankfully, Brad still has some on his site, and I bought one off form him there.

I was wrong to say that I was not expecting to see 96 SG...because that concert was just as good as when I saw them at Lolla. Not as animated, but they are 15 years years older.

I want more concerts at the Gorge...like PEARL JAM.

  • The first Audioslave album is so money. I know Soundgarden is back together but I'd pay good money to see Audioslave full on dude. They never really toured for Revelations and there's some great stuff on there like the title track, Until We Fall, One and the Same etc.

they were amazing. seats were great but wish it was GA. soundgarden has more of a GA feel to them. they played around 2 hours and 15 min or so. i've never seen a band so tight like i did with them. chris was just eating up the jones beach crowd. even went into the crowd for a few minutes after a song i think. ranks in my top 5 concerts of all time.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Revelations was awful. Even the band tried to distance itself from it. That first album was a doozy though. I thought the 2nd album was pretty good, but it didn't have much staying power.

I saw Audioslave after they released their first record, it was at Lollapalooza 2003. It was indescribably good. Cornell killed it and blew everyone away. The rest of the guys are so active on stage it was great to watch.

I had seats for the festival, but it rained super hard that day and they delayed the show even though the tickets said "rain or shine." Everyone was getting a little ancy and aggressive and while everyone went back to their cars as advised until the rain stopped, my brother and I who didn't have a car as we were dropped off and being picked up, just casually walked down to the floor as did EVERYONE there. So I got to be in the GA area, damn near the very front and center in front of Chris to watch them slay everyone in the audience. Afterwards, Jane's Addiction came out as the last band of the night and gave us a second dose of what Audioslave had done.

It definitely stands out as one of the most memorable concerts I've ever seen.

Sorry I can't help you on seeing Soundgarden, I'm still waiting on my 1st chance.

The first album had more RATM influence while the second album seemed to be influenced more by Cornell. I really liked the 2nd album.

The thirds album seemed like b-side thrown together by the record company to squeeze some money out of us while they could.
  • I disagree. Revelations is underrated. Multiple solid tracks: Revelations, One And The Same, Until We Fall, Original Fire, Somedays, Wide Awake, Moth.

Who cares if the band distanced themselves from it. Everyone I talk to just automatically writes the album off, it's unbelievable. Stop going by popular opinion and actually put Revelations on and really listen to it, start to finish.

I didn't like it long before they distanced themselves from it. I think you can tell by listening to it that nobody in the band was wholly invested in it from a creative standpoint.

I think from a songwriting standpoint you're right. But I also kinda see a Rage music through a Cornell filter with S/T and Cornell music through a Rage filter with Out of Exile.

It's far from awful! Whilst not perfect, there are a handfull of great songs on there, including Wide Awake, which I personally think is the best song they did - the vocal performance is one of Cornell's best in my opinion.

Strongly disagree. When is the last time you really listened to it? Be honest. Listen to it again, giving it a fair shot. It's totally solid.

Agreed. There are great tracks to be found on this record, maybe even more than a handful.

I saw the debut audioslave tour and Boston and while I love that first album ( show me how to live" is hard rock gold)
Let's all admit that chris constantly struggled to sing loud enough to be heard over the rest of the band!
I have yet to see or hear one audioslave show in which chris is better than god awful! And don't get me started about the Cuba DVD!
But then he went solo, they boosted his vocal volume and suddenly he was THE VOICE again.
Saw both solo shows in Boston in 2007 and he was mind blowing (kick ass band he toured with as well)
And chris smartly brought this vocal volume boosting technique to the SG reunion tour and they now sound better than any of the 1994-1996 SG boots I have listened to, even the newly released live cd..

That Cuba DVD is hard to listen to... Chris's live performance of Show Me How To Live on it is hard to recognize when compared to the studio.

Tough times for him back then, but when I saw them on the same tour, the debut one, I remember Chris sounding pretty great.

i saw them back then too. a black eye and the worry that fresh stitches would pull apart kept me at a safe distance but i will always remember cornell walking out on stage with an acoustic guitar to sing peace love and understanding... and the fact that i got to see/hear tom morello in action was just the cherry on top.
