White Stripes Pimping Captain Morgan Spiced Rum?

Just saw the commercial during Pardon The Interruption on ESPN. I never thought Jack White would have allowed one of his songs to be played in a cheesy alcohol commercial. I know they wrote a song for a Coca-Cola ad back in the day, but allowing Ball and Biscuit to be used to sell Captain Morgan? Say it ain't so. Thoughts?

    Yep. Saw that too. Who cares anymore? Everyone's sold out. I would too. I thought it was pretty cool actually, and I'm not even a captain morgan drinker.

    I thought it was a decent ad as well. I would definitely make the same move, I'm just surprised that Jack did.

    Oh, and I'm not a Captain fan either.

    The record and radio industry blows. Unfortunately bands/artists now adays need to find alternative ways to get their music out there.

    I don't know the guy, but for some reason I don't doubt that he enjoys Capt. Morgan every now and then.

    didn't someone just post that they didn't write this song? thought someone did (maybe they realized they did write it ;) ). pretty cool. Saw it and had no idea what it was for though until they said it, kinda dumb commercial, imo.

    Seems right up Jack's alley to me. Haven't heard him take any stands. Clearly he likes to make money(who doesn't). Aside from Ball and Biscut(great song BTW) the commercial sucks and is a stupid premise.

    For what it's worth, I was driving last weekend and heard "What About Love" by Heart on the radio.

    I instantly thought of that Swiffer commercial.

    At the end of the day, it's their music. Of course, if artistic integrity is important, they may want to steer clear of cleaning product spots. :lol:

    Yeah, a Cadillac pops into my mind when I hear Rock & Roll. :(

    And now those stupid reverse tricycle motorized things will be associated with ZZ Top's La Grange ... although I will give ad agency a nod for having the balls to take a song about a Texas whore house to help push their product. :mrgreen:
