London UK PJ20 Screening

edited August 2011 in The Porch
So I'd emailed the folks who run the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith asking whether they've got anything going on on the 20/9, cos you know, there's some kind of doco by Cameron Crowe which is getting a one-day deal out of it, and they said...

yeah sure, we will be screening it.

I'd started my FB event.

1. If you want in, how come I don't know you already? (you answer should be 'cos you were on your 6th vodka and 9th beer when we met')
2. If you haven't got an invite from one of the others instead of me, you should be getting one soon...
3. It's gonna be a laff.
4. I promise not to drink too much.
5. I say (4) a lot. It NEVER works out.

I would've posted this earlier but I got the reply on Thursday night, when I was out having drinks with a PJ mate then flew to Switzerland for a PJ mate's wedding party. Congrats again Vivi and Pedro!

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<13/8/11 UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Tickets for the 20/9 screening at Riverside Studios are now available. Not on Vue yet. But come join us at Riverside Studios anyway. Nice pubs around there!

Nice detective work! I'm hoping they'll show it here in Bristol but if not at least hamersmith is just the other end of the M4! How about a link to your FB event if you can do that?

    I haven't got anything.

But then I wouldn't be able to come. Hopefully they'll do something 'up north'.

I really, really hope there's going to be one in Scotland. We've been overlooked by PJ since 2000

I've emailed the cinemas we have in Bristol to ask if they'll screen it, some of them were national so I'd say if we all email our local/national cinemas we may show there's a demand out there for this. There were probably only 50 max (if that!) at the screening of the Foo's doco at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol and they're bigger than PJ over here.

    National:

    Cineworld - Customer.Services@Cineworld.co.uk

I got this response from Odeon today
    Thank you for your email.

As Pearl Jam Twenty is scheduled to be released on Tuesday 20th September 2011, I'm afraid that we are only able to confirm showing times on a week-by-week basis and will only have a confirmed list of films/times after 2pm on the Tuesday before your planned visit. This can change dependent on when your local cinema completes their programming as this can sometimes be delayed up until Tuesday evening. Also, blockbuster films may go on sale at any moment – this is largely down to the Film Distributors agreeing terms with our Film Department.

I understand that this is not convenient when trying to arrange a visit to the cinema, however we do not receive the details of the films available from the film companies until late Monday afternoon.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to email us again or call 0871 22 44 007* between 11am and 8pm.

Also had a response from Cineworld saying they won't be screening the movie as it is out on dvd a week later

Please see the response from Vue Customer services below:
    MESSAGE:

    Thank you for your email.

Please note that after Bank Holiday weekends, schedules will be available from the following Wednesday.

However, we often have special events and show special performances such as this.

Thats what I thought. Maybe the UK is getting the dvd earlier? Or Cineworld just have their wires crossed? Here's the email they sent me.
    Thank you for contacting Cineworld.

We will not be showing Pearl Jam Twenty as the DVD is released a week later.

Should you have any further queries please feel free to contact Customer Services via email or on 0844 815 7747.

Also had a reply from The Cornerhouse in Manchester today
Thank you for your email and interest in Cornerhouse film programme.

There are currently no definate plans to screen Pearl Jam Twenty as our schedule is already full with various other new releases which we are contracted to be screening. We are aware of the interest in this particular title and as we programme our cinemas on a weekly basis, there is a chance that we will be able to fit it in if we see there being a significant audience demand however at the moment this doesn’t look likely.

FACT in Liverpool are supposed to be showing it.

I am a bit confused what is going on with the screening. Can anyone confirm how long it will be shown for. There is nothing on PJ20 site with a UK(London) screening but i have read that it will be shown for 1 day only. I really want to see in a cinema before the DVD release can anyone help. Thanks

It's 1 night only on sept 20th although select cinemas will air it for a week from sept 23. I wouldn't count on too many if any uk cinemas having it for a week though, especially outside the capitals. See pj20.com fir details

Listings are up. Seems like all the Vues across UK are doing it.

I'd still much rather going to Riverside if they're doing it, though. Cos of the bar.

If they'd put it on the Friday or Saturday I'd have been up for London, but as it's at home post Canada I'd be stupid to spend an extra £40-50 to cover train and hostel!

Although the Screenings page lists Vue Leicester Square, the Vue website isn't showing it up as showing there, so I emailed them and got this reply :

    "Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that this film is not scheduled to play at Vue Leicester Square.

    Kind regards,

    Danielle"

Just thought I'd let you all know. This would've been the most central screen in London but looks like it's an exception to what Vue seem to be doing.

Yeah, Hamilton would have been a lot easier for me as i actually live in Coatbridge!

I'm thinking of not drinking so i can take the film in, but i think this could prove to be a hard task with my crowd! :)

Enjoy the movie and hopefully there's a decent turn out for it :D
