If I made 10 million dollars a year:
1. some would go towards family members and friends in need.
2. some would go towards various charities, ranging form the ASPCA and Humane Society to the Sierra Club and the NRDC to Cancer Research and other medical research institutes.
3. I would not mind paying a 50% tax rate to rebuild the infrastructure of the U.S., to fund clean energy research, to build high-speed rails, to feed the poor, to aid in the education of our youth, to help those who haven't been given the gift of a white, middle-class, privileged upbringing like I have been given, to provide healthcare for the poor and elderly, to build medical centers and hospitals in urban and rural areas, to pay the salaries and pensions of public workers, especially policeman and fireman who risk their lives every day that they go to work, to cultural arts centers and museums, to fight fraud in the system and ensure that those in need receive help while ensuring that those who abuse the system land in jail, to pay the college tuition of every soldier that returns from war and to compensate every family who has a son or daughter, husband or wife, mother or father, who does not return from war, to pay the college expenses of those children who are now fatherless or motherless, to help small businesses from being destroyed by corporate dominance, to ensure that every good, hard-working citizen of the United States has the ability to do so. To ensure that we all can achieve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And, if after all of this giving, I end up with a net salary of $50K, I will be very, very happy.
But, that's just me.

Awesome ideas,
but with (what is it 3000+ soldiers dead??), you're already in debt buddy.
You don't get to pick what you tax $ go to.
Most likely you would pay someone to find a way to pay the least amount of taxes possible.
You can not make 10 million a year with your attitude. It takes work and greed.
Besides- why should you pay 50%!???
Nobody else pays that rate.
Better to pay the least tax possible so that you end up with more going to the causes.
Also, why isn't a 35% top tax rate enough? Add to that state and local taxes (some as high as 15%), plus payroll taxes, plus Medicare, plus sales taxes, auto excise taxes, and property taxes and a HUGE % of income is going towards taxes already.
The country is in a huge amount of debt and the problem is spending, not taxes. That is why people don't want taxes to go up, and why they are right.
