Was thinking back to when I first got Cable T.V , and that got me thinking about the first music video I ever seen.

Dire Straits.....Money for Nothing

I Think it had to be around 1986 then, So.....

What was the first video you seen, and when was it?

My parents watch MTV all the time when it first came out back in the day.

I vividly recall Fish Heads as one of the first videos I watched.

    Probably this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye8mB6VsUHw

I don't remember the first Mtv video. I vividly remember U2's New Year's Day that I would watch when I babysat. We didn't have cable, so we didn't get Mtv. Toni Basil's Mickey was pretty popular, and of course I was glued to the TV of where I babysat when Mtv premiered Michael Jackson's Thriller.

I honestly can't remember but the one that sticks out in my brain the most is Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer. What year was that? '88 maybe? That was one badass video.

Yeah, I love that one, I think that may have been the first one I ever saw.
Other early memories of music videos are a weird Tom Petty one where Alice in Wonderland had a cake body :? , and Weird Al's "Addicted To Spuds".

It was on a music show on swedish television and I remember the announcer making a big story about it, that this was all new and strange, I didn't see MTV until years later when cable came, cant remember when but I imagine mid 80s...

Huh, that's funny ... Boston had its own video station on cable called V66. And yeah, it was on channel 66.

The first video I ever saw which was before I ever saw MTV was the Police's Don't Stand So Close to Me ... pretty vivd memory of that on some late night Sunday show on network TV that showed videos.

I do remember being over a friend's house the first time I saw MTV, and the first video I saw on there was Jack & Diane (John Cougar Mellancamp ... or was he just John Cougar at that point? or ... John Mellencamp?)

When I was 6 this was the coolest video. Now all I see is the terrible camel toe of the lead singer - which on a guy is ....
