corrupt sd card help

Yesterday, while i was out with the family, and taking photos, i noticed later when i went to view my pics on the camera, it would only let me view the last few that i had taken, even though i had taked quite a few earlier that day, and a few minutes before.. when i got home and put my sd card into my pc and opened it up, there where loads of folders with funny looking symbols for the names of the folders instead on one folder for all the pictures. i can only assume my card has somehow suddenly become corrupt. anybody any idea on any free recovery program that might help get my photos back, as there where quite a few holiday snaps on there.

or any idea about going about this,

i did download one prog. but was no use. i did wonder if reformatting the card, then try recovering deleted photos would work???

anyody out there with any knowledge on this.

    thats what i though,... so that route is not an option then

    to be honest just pull what you can off the card .

    then format it chalk up your loss . sounds like the card is starting to die Or something happened
    . I would check into a new one or something .

    Start backing up every time you take pics .

    While on vacation last year my wife accidentally formatted her card when her camera started messing up. We couldn't find any of our vacation photos. When we came home we took it to a local camera shop(Murphy's, I think)and they recovered ALL of our photos and put them on a disc for us. You may want to call a camera shop and ask.

    one of my friends is a photographer, i may call him, i've downloaded 1 program and managed to retrieve a handfull from this week, better than none. but i'll keep trying.

    i just googled and was reading that if you accidently format your card, and don't take any more pictures then they can be retrieved, so if all else fails i might try that
