Hello to everyone! This being my first post, I wanted to ask you guys what I should get next. I'm sort of torn between Lost Dogs and the Live at the Gorge Boxset. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I hope I'm posting this in the right spot

    Lost Dogs..

SAD and HOLD ON...are two of the finest Pearl Jam songs ever recorded, in my opinion!

    2."Sad" (Vedder) – 3:39
Previously unreleased.[11] Binaural outtake.[12] Originally titled "Letter to the Dead".[13]

    15."Hold On" (Gossard, Vedder) – 4:22
Previously unreleased.[11] Ten outtake.[16] The booklet incorrectly lists this as a Vs. outtake.[12]

Id go with Lost Dogs just because its going to be a lot of stuff you can't get on the other studio albums, where Live at the Gorge is all stuff from the albums live. They're both great... but I'd complete studio stuff before moving to the live recordings personally.

It's all personal preference of course... its like choosing between hot fudge and caramel. Can't go wrong...

I like them both but definately Lost Dogs. I have it on vinyl (Thanks 10 club folks! xoxox) and I love Sad, Wash, Let Me Sleep and Strangest Tribe. Bloody great album. ;)

One caveat too is that with the Gorge you get way more tracks... I forgot about that part of it. Its like getting Die Hard 1-4 or Rocky 1&2... :)

    the gorge is live
lost dogs is all studio stuff
the gorge, for a live cd set, is amazing and encompasses/represents pearl jam live when they're at their best
lost dogs is all stuff that isn;t on any of their true studio releases.

each one is of equal importance to own

but we're comparing pitchers and catchers here....

Lost Dogs.....Studio is superior for listening purposes and the band puts tons of extra work into them so you can get all the nuance.
  • totally depends on the listener............even myself.............sometimes I'm a "live guy" and sometimes I'm a "studio guy".

haha. not a big deal. I bought it when it came out, being the buy-every-pearl-jam-item-in-stores sheep that i used to be, and didn't listen to it for years.

listening to live shows you didn't attend is not for everyone. for me it's mostly just remembering the moment, so I don't listen to shows I didn't go to that often.
