They just announced a show in my city, and I was thinking about checking them out. I've never heard anything by them before - where should I start? The only thing I know about these guys was how many people were upset about them opening for PJ a couple of years ago. Are they that bad live?

I thought they were. Two days in a row at Madison Square Garden in '08 and both nights I felt like my ears were bleeding.

I don't think they are all that good as an opener for a band like Pearl Jam because of the venue size they play. However, they are a great band in smaller venues, which is where I assume you will be seeing them. I really like their music.

I have three of their albums. Shake the Streets and The Tyranny of Distance are both very good, but Living With The Living is par at best. Hope that helps.

I would check them out. I don't think their shows are very expensive either.

I haven't seen them live but LOVE their studio stuff. Living with the Living is my favorite. Track 7 "Bomb Repeat
Bomb" is awesome. Shake the Sheets is great too.

yeah, it's a real tiny club on FSU's campus. Does not even sell any advanced tickets. Thanks for the advice - this helps!

Start with Hearts of Oak. That's what got me hooked. Brutalist Bricks is also an excellent album.

I saw them 4 times in 2 weeks opening for PJ. Good Lord, by day #3, I couldn't take it anymore. I went in early for a poster, otherwise I would've stayed out of the building until they were over. Horrible. And the lead singer seemed like he thought he was "the shit". He wasn't. he just sounded like it.
