Anyone know all the lyrics to all the songs?

I sometimes feel so out of my depth here because there are fans who are much more knowledgeable than myself and who are so passionate, have seen them a million times, and are definitely more obsessed than me.... etc etc.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows absolutely all the words to all the songs? I would place myself maybe somewhere between 60-70% (probably over estimate) of knowing lyrics to the songs.

How would you rate yourself?

I almost have EvenFlow down pat. Been listening since the day it was released... yeah, I'm lyrically inept!!!

Dont really care though. I read the lyrics a few times early on, and figured I can hum and mumble til my heart is content :)

I'm still working on the names :) Usually just hit play and listen.
  • I've been trying to learn all the songs over the past 3 months and I know about 80% now, you know just in case Eddie calls me up on stage, or maybe I can fill in while he goes to smoke. ;)

Me too. Then I take a trip to the music section and find myself thinking "That makes so much more sense!" Purple squirrels are cool and all, but... ;)
  • A little ditty called Yellow Ledbetter means the answer to this question will always be no! Unless of course .....your name is Eddie Vedder!

Not me. Not even close. In fact, one of the things that drew me to PJ 20 years ago was that it seemed almost like impressionist art. The music was beautiful but I rarely knew what the hell Eddie was saying. I've gotten better over the years but early on I was lost.

When I played Lukin II for a friend, his first reaction was "What?!? Lukin has lyrics?!?"

Lyrics? Shit, I can barely get some of the song titles straight.

I only (very) recently realized it's "Brain of J" (not Brian).

I always thought somebody misread Ed's handwriting or something and they just went with it (kinda like how Cream's "Badge" got its title).

I know up through Yield fairly well but after that I think the songs started to lose some of the familiar verse/chorus/verse structure that helps you to remember lyrics and I began liking the subsequent albums less and less.

The vast majority are printed in the liner notes of each album. So, yeah, I tend to be familiar with most of 'em.

I tried explaining that to the cop the other day after running a red light, but he didn't think it was very funny ;)
  • I have a brain for words, and lyrics especially stick with me. I'd modestly put myself at OP's lower end, 60%. I will admit to listening to songs on repeat until I get them down (did this with random ones- rvm, come back, breakerfall, etc- yeah, random). I try not to sing along live for the sake of those around me. Sometimes, though, I cannot help it.
