all those leagues you mentioned are the minor leagues of hockey. they're kinda like the movie slapshot.

I wouldn't say it's like that! Decent hockey, probably equal to Division three college hockey.
  • ha ha thanks for that, were not lucky enough to have a league like the nhl in the uk, football (or soccer in the us ) :) dominates over here, the elite ice hockey league in the uk is comparable to the echl/wchl

man that reminds me to watch slapshot again, great film

would be cool to hear from someone who has seen these guys in action

no decent hockey is Division 2 hockey and AHL. ECHL is basically a league of has beens and never was who are getting paid shit money for a game they love . if you like good old fashion hockey brawls, the ECHL is for you

They were just extras. You can see them in the scene where there's the brawl before the National Anthem. Alot of the movie was filmed where I grew up, Utica, NY. Also, the scene where the three brothers are beating the shit out of the Coke machine is filmed in Union Station in Utica. If you ever need anymore Utica trivia, Slapshot trivia, or Utica in Slaphot trivia answered you can always aske me. :D

Isn't the CHL the canadian junior hockey league...in which case the oldest one of them guys should only be 20. If there going to be playing in England, I would say they went undrafted to the nhl and this is just a way for them to continue their hockey careers.

They are up and comers, CHL is the Canadian Hockey League. The next step for them in the years to come is to enter the NHL draft (most players do this, if they don't get drafted they sign as a free agent on any team in any league)

I believe this would be the league he's referring to as far as CHL. It's the Central Hockey League.

The Canadian Hockey League is actually made up of three different junior leagues. A good portion of these players will or have been drafted by the NHL. If you're playing in this league and your 19-20 you probably aren't looking to jump ship yet and play overseas.
  • cool, lets hope they can bring us some silverware this season! :)
