Rico Review: Eddie Vedder- Seattle 2 7/16/11

Here is my review from Eddie Show in Seattle last night 7/16/10
Ever since I woke up on Saturday morning I could not contain my excitement! Me and my mom were so excited to be seeing Eddie in a few hours! So around 5:00 we arrived at the Pre-Party and it was really fun! Got to meet some awesome people like Ryan, Lisa and Matt! Didn’t win any of the raffle stuff but I got pretty close! It was fun chatting with people and hearing cool stories from past Eddie shows.
So we got to the venue a little after the doors opened up and the Merch stand was unbelievable in a bad way. There was no order, no system and no lines. So I ended up standing in the line for like half an hour, but I was able to get what I wanted and still was able to get to our seats in enough time before Glen started. Also I was a little disappointed with the posters, I did not like them. I loved Seattle 1 poster a lot but not last night’s poster. Other for that I liked the rest of the Merch. So we got to our seats which were really good seats! We were about more then half way from the stage, row DD but we could still see the performers and ended up sitting next to some older people so that was good, no loud idiots. Benoroya Hall really is a beautiful venue!!!
The minute Glen came out my focus went to him. Let me just say that he is amazing!!! He started playing the first song which I guess he just wrote and the way he plays that acoustic guitar is amazing. His voice is incredible; it’s so powerful and so soothing at the same time. What was awesome was when he played Astral Weeks by Van Morrison. He was on fire on that song, vocal wise and the way he strummed that guitar was speechless. And I loved the line from Smile! It was the highlight of his set! He also told a funny goat story “You killed my goat, I will drag your soul through Hell”
and he told a sad story about a tragic moment in his life. He told how he met Eddie and how sometimes good things come from tragic moments. He was simply amazing! The songs, the emotion his put into the songs, the way he played and the stories made for an unbelievable opening act! I will have to check out his other music soon!
Finally Eddie came on, looking rather nice. Sat down, said “In the words of Marvin Gaye, let’s get it on” And then he begin with a very awesome version of Can’t Keep on uke. Eddie sounds SOOOO much better in person!!! It’s like Benoroya Hall was made for his and Glen’s voice! My mom and I were really hoping for Can’t Keep to start the concert so we were really happy! Then he played Sleeping by Myself and Without You which I already loved and adore but seeing them live they were even better! Then he did the one thing I thought I would never here “Hahahahahaha Fahkah!” My mom and I couldn’t stop laughing!
He introduced it as being his kid’s favorite song. Then he played my favorite song from Uke Songs, You’re True! When he started playing it I was flipping out and smiling so much! Such an amazing song and I was so glad I was able to hear it!!! After that he played an awesome song I thought I would never hear, Soon Forget! I love that song! And it was cool cause he dedicated it do Mr. Benaroya Hall! When Chris on the cello came out I knew we were in for a treat and we were. He played Longing to Belong which me and my mom just loved. Then he told his first story which was about him overhearing some teenage girls trying to sing Black. It was so funny! Hearing The Needle and the Damage done was really cool, never knew how much I liked that song until yesterday. Then when he brought out his electric guitar and started the first cords of Long Road I was like. It was incredible hearing that song!!!! When he started Wishlist My mom and I both looked at each other and we both were wearing the biggest smiles on out faces
, it’s one of our favorite PJ song! It was breathe-taking to hear!!!!! The same goes for Man of the Hour, it’s an amazing song but even better live!! I am Mine was also very awesome, it’s one that my mom and I both love so it was cool hear that! Long Nights was awesome as well! Eddie’s voice is perfect for that song plus Glen’s bass was so loud it was going through my body! Before No Ceiling (Which I love!) he told a story about how his daughter first referred to that song ad Reason Alby. He knocked that song and Far Behind (One of my favorite from ITW) out of the park! And when he played Guaranteed I was so amazed on how awesome and beautiful it sounded, it’s my favorite song from ITW!!! Before he played Rise which was great, he was talking about a recent news story about, well, let’s say it doesn’t end good for the guy. Then he told us about a dream involving that news story and Martha Stewart!
It was great! Then he brought out the quartet which included Mat Cameron’s Wife which was really cool. He played half of Just Breathe and then stopped to have George fix the sound of his guitar. Then he went and played the song again, that and The End were so beautiful and amazing, glad to hear them live! After a little story about weed he played it. By it I mean he played UNTHOUHT KNOWN!!!
My favorite song ever!!! It was out of this world!!! From the first note I was yelling, smiling from ear to ear and screaming like a little girl!! From gems and rhinestones to no one’s rival it was amazing!!! I am so lucky and happy I saw this live!!! A moment I will never forget! And then he played Betterman which is always great to hear, especially live with hundreds of people singing it with you! After the first concert break he played a Townshend song which was really nice and then Small Town which was great singing along with everybody at the venue!!! Even though Immortality isn’t one of my favorite PJ songs it was still great to hear live! Then Glen came on and played Sleepless Nights with Eddie with no mics which was awesome to hear, they sounded perfect together! Hearing Society live really showed me how much I love that song, plus when Eddie and Glen jammed on the guitars after it was so great to see! And then Falling Slowly. It is such a beautiful song and seeing it live with Glen and Eddie together was really something else, both of their voices together with the string quartet really made it something else. Then Eddie play Open all Night and Porch which were both amazing to hear live! Then after the second encore he played a song I never though I would hear. Rockin’ in the Free World!!!!
My mom and I both went crazy for that song!!!! One of the best song he played, we absolutely love it!!!! It was cool for Eddie to take a bow with his crew!! Then the talked a lot about how he loved being home and that he will never leave and then started playing Hard Sun with Glen which was magical!!! I never wanted it to end, but when it did he play Dream a Little Dream which was the perfect way to end the show.
Overall Eddie and Glen sounded and played AMAZING!!! Both were in a great mood and both told funny and touching stories!!!! I pray this show gets released soon!!! It was the best 4 hours of my life ever!!!!! My mom and I would love to thank everybody for the tickets and for everything else!!! You guys rock, thanks for the best night ever!!!!

I missed the first part of Glen because the merch table was so crazy! Mr. RK got a berverage and we couldn't take them in with us, so he had to finish that. We got in and sat down, seats were AMAZING!
I met a really nice gal in line at the merch booth, she came down from Vancouver, she told the guy to help me first because he was gonna help her first. Then she helped me roll up my poster and put all my stuff in a bag. Didn't get your name, but thank-you!
Didn't think Ed was gonna take pics after the show, so we left right after. Saw that he was meeting folks so yay for them!
Next Ed show, I will wear my green corduroy jacket...or a my white lab coat
